Rear windows defroster E89

Post by tonyg » Sat Oct 01, 2022 6:37 am

Hello
Just used the rear window defroster on my 2015 E89 for the first time yesterday. Noticed that the top 2 lines don’t work. I’m not sure whether this is normal is not, as I’m wondering whether these might be an antenna of some sort?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance. Tony

Probably broke.
Demister on my car was already broke when bought 10 years ago.
The tracks seem very delicate.
The point where the power lead connects to glass broke off.
Never seen a satisfactory fix.

I'am able to re-solder these pins on the glass with a temp. controlled heat gun.

Another option is with some kind of painted silver, available on eBay or elsewhere. Didn't test it.
Pardon, je suis Allemand

Given mine is just top 2 rows then presumably this isn't the power lead?

Unfortunately I'm just north London so can't get you to solder, though I wonder if there's anyone else who can? :)

Well, everything is possible, if you really want.
And Bavaria always is worth to have a trip to with a Z4.

I used to spend a lot of time in Munich and on the Inn in past years...!!! I may just try to claim on my RAC Used Car warranty this time though!
