Did anyone see the Z4C 3.0i on collecting cars the other day? Very interesting sale price, I was watching the auction and there was plenty of time to outbid the final price. Not sure if the car had hidden secrets but looked pretty solid and honest.

A sign of the times and certainly a shift in the market (or the start of) I would say....

100% a sign of the times IMO, I was watching with interest, I think the interior colour put people off a little bit. I was bidding on a Cayman which didn't sell for an overly high price either.

Don't forget you have to buy a buyer premium on that price but even so that would be £600 on top I believe.

Exactly that. Selling price was £8,550 plus the £600 so £9,150 - still a really good price for a 56 plate with 54k on the clock. That Cayman looked good too, I was tempted.

It was a really good price say 6 months ago but who knows what a good price is currently. The market is changing fairly quickly that's for sure, cars are sitting around and not selling.

Yeah the Cayman had good spec and history, i wasn't a fan of the wheels and didn't really want black which is why I only bid so far. :)

Time will tell what the market will do going forward, there maybe some good opportunities as a buyer though

Would you say it could be the case in general for cars that are seen as weekend/second cars?

General cost of living can surely turn it into a buyer's market for anyone with some spare cash sitting.

A car garaged in the winter in Scotland will be just as good as one down south. Most of the salt they see is from the roads and I’m sure we get more of that down here. However one that lives outdoors on the coast and gets battered by storms and surf 200 days of the year is bound to suffer. [ref]Joycey[/ref] restored a Scottish car (nicknamed Nessie, documented on another forum) which literally had barnacles growing underneath it.
Lol my motto is:

Don’t buy a Scotland car, unless you live in Scotland!

Wow. I commented before on this forum that there were four Z4s on my street, this one was my neighbour’s. Seeing his was one of the reasons I bought my coupe. In fact I asked him if he would sell it to me, but at the time he didn’t want to let it go.

Whoever got this has an absolute bargain, I hope it’s someone on here. The car was always locked away in his garage and was meticulously looked after.

All I can say about the market is that I sold mine for what I asked for it, which was considerably more than this and mine was an SE, this is a Sport. There are definitely buyers out there for these wonderful cars.

Was she not down RBM a few weeks back for some tweaks.
Clutch and flywheel mate - shat itself whilst on track in Dijon. Had to get the car repatriated from France to RBM. Was a mission, but Ross and the boys got the job done. Day after the work was done I took it to the Ring and had a good laugh.

What were you doing down there?

That's the kiddie, I was down there while they were working on it. I know Ross well and often pop down for a chat.

What do we think is happening with the market now? Seems to be quite a few cars around which aren't selling.

I did see this pop up at a specialist near me looks to have an aftermarket exhaust which is a positive and has xenon's and PDC but that seems to be where the spec stops unfortunately :(

Considering this dealer is usually at the higher end of the market id guesstimate that prices are coming down pretty quickly?

I am still after a coupe and watching the market weekly to see what is about.

The Z4 market has always been a niche market imo and as a result is relatively slow (when compared to other marques).

Taking the current economic situation into consideration, it is clear that the market has slowed even further which has already resulted in the market softening. People with ‘good cars’ will see this and will most probably hold off putting their car up for sale until Spring next year, which would probably be a better time to buy (due to more choice). Unless the right car comes up at the right price I suggest putting your purchase on hold until such a time comes.

Prices for 2 seaters always used to drop off around this time of year with Christmas and bad weather on the horizon, then pick up the next Spring.

That was definitely still the case in 2019/2020 when I bought my MC and then was selling my 3.0Si.

But for some reason it didn't seem to happen the next 2 years although it looks like it is now, especially with petrol prices and general inflation.

It'll be interesting to see what happens next Spring.

A bit of a resurrection but I stumbled across this yesterday while I was looking for something else!

https://www.swva.co.uk/classic-car/bmw-z4-si-se-auto-2007/

Even for an Auto SE and with a 10% buyer's premium (inc VAT) that didn't look dear to me.

That one is advertised on here too:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=144552

I suppose there are 2 ways of looking at it. It's either pricey for a 17 year old Z4, or it's a bargain for a 16,000 mile car that had a list price of £33,600!

Those tyres aren't shouting £23K car (though it does look very nice), presumably the orginals perished after sitting around for most of the last 17 years… the driver's seat doesn't look to have weathered the years as well as you might expect for that money and mileage either.

Spotted this on Gumtree. It's a rare colour but the asking price seems a bit on the side? I was thinking of going to have a look but it's a couple of hours away from me.
