Roof motor relocation Scotland

Post by Lewismac2011 » Wed Sep 14, 2022 11:28 pm

I want to have my roof motor relocated, I'm base in St Andrews Scotland and wanted to ask if anyone has had a roof motor relocated anywhere in Scotland? Or where is nearest to me, I have heard of people getting it done in Durham?

Welcome to the forum.

I don't know of anyone doing this in Scotland so your nearest option is probably Durham Dave.

He's been doing them for years - hopefully the phone number in this thread will still work:- viewtopic.php?t=86030

How long does it take for the relocation to be done? I would hoping to get down and back in the same day? It about a 7 hours round trip for me?

If your motor is still working and just needs to be moved then it’s around 40mins. Dave has it down to a fine art.

I’m in Canada and would love to have this done. It seems that for some reason this work is stupid expensive over here but very reasonable in the UK. I’m envious!

My motor was completely dead, but drying it out etc - as well as relocating it - sorted it fine. It’s worked for 3 years since then just fine. Hope I’m not tempting fate saying that !

I can sort that for you.
A simple return flight and a couple of nights board and we'll call it evens. :D

In all seriousness though, it is only cheaper over here because a few people have been too mean to pay for a dealer to do it, so taught themselves and are now passing it on to help others.
I learned by reading the forum threads then plying a couple of people with questions.
Once I'd done one I found it was not complicated, just fiddly. There's definitely a knack to it.
Now I'm more than happy to do it for others in return for a beer or two...............or four. :D

After four I'd be struggling the next day to remember where it was relocated! On the opposite side perhaps, as it may have been a funny idea to do?

I swear one day someone is going to have to pass me the beer and go home with me still in the boot!
