Central door locking gone wild

Post by JeroenO » Fri Sep 16, 2022 12:34 pm

Since a few weeks, the central door locking of my E89 has gone wild: When I unlock the car with the remote control, the car repeatedly unlocks and locks. Also while driving.

It also regularly indicates while driving that one of the two doors is not closed properly.

Investigation by the dealer has so far yielded nothing other than a general malfunction report of the door locking.

has anyone had the same experience?

If it has comfort access, basically you can lock/unlock the car touching the handle of the door, it probably needs a new door handle.
My X6 done this last year and needed a new door handle to fix it.

Hi Nictrix,

Thanks for the reply, but I don’t have comfort access.
So replacing the handle won’t solve.

Keep you informed.

Cheers,
Jeroen

Problem solved by the BMW dealer. If I understood correctly, the locking mechanism in the drivers-door was failing. That made the TMF go running wild. After replacing the locking mechanism and re-programming the TMF, all seems fine now.

Good to know you got it fixed.

I've only ever had that problem once on a 1991 Sierra - it was really annoying!

It was a real challenge the dealer said to me. It took them 10 hours to diagnose and solve.
