Hello all
Had a good day as my 2009 23i with 49000 miles sailed through its mot with no issues.
I have a query regards servicing as car has full BMW history with last service less than 3000 miles ago just over 2 years ago.
Car had an oil service before I bought it a year ago and has only done 1100 miles.Wanted to get opinions on firstly whether it is worth getting it serviced now and also is it worth keeping up the BMW dealership history?
I have a great independent I have used for years for all my cars and he recommends taking it to BMW even though he is doing himself out of the work and know BMW will be nearly double the cost.
I am verging on OCD and usually have my cars serviced every 12 months no matter mileage so will probably not be happy unless I know it’s done each year but happy to get your thoughts.

I am not sure why your independent talked himself out a job! Personally I would take it to the independent, for a car of this age, main dealer history becomes less important. As long as your independent uses quality OEM parts and does work of a good standard then I don't see any issues.
In terms of low miles and servicing, oil should be changed every year at a minimum even if the car has done just a few hundred miles, oil breaks down with age as well as miles so yes I would get that done.

Agree, the effect on value by using an independent garage for servicing on a 2009 car will be negligible. Personally i think it’s more important to see it’s carried out on a more regular basis as opposed to who did itSilverstar wrote: ↑Wed Aug 31, 2022 9:11 pm I am not sure why your independent talked himself out a job! I'd agree with what others have said too.
Maintaining BMW SH is just a way to pay too much! Find a good Indy (ideally a BMW specialist) and use them.
