Cruise control retrofit

Post by Tim FR » Sat Aug 13, 2022 8:36 pm

Hi guys

I retrofitted cruise control which now works (after fitting a 5a fuse in F28). However, nothing shows up on the display. Did I miss something?

Any help appreciated.

Hmmmmm I’m not sure mine has any dash display saying that I have cruise engaged. Or maybe I have a dash light out!!

When you select your cruise speed it is confirmed in the centre top display and also indicated by a marker on the speedo in green when active and amber when knocked off but still set ready to resume.

Cruise control retrofit

Hi, thank you for responding.

Yes that’s right, it should come up in the top central display. I must have got something wrong in the coding. I’ll run through the process again.

I believe the green/amber lights are on later clusters, don’t think I want too get into that.

Just realised this is the E89 sub forum, mine is an E85! So should my dash show any indication?

Mine is a June 2009 car (one of the first E89s) with factory cruise and it has the green / amber indicators on the speedo.

Any further problems Tim then give me a shout and I'll see what I can do.

To note something** For factory fitted cruise there will be the LED's around the speedo, but for retrofitted cruise, unless you also retrofit the correct cluster then these LED's won't be there but you should have the central speed set indication for 3 seconds following activation of cruise. If this isn't coming up then check that you did the Kombi steps in the How-To
There is no harm in running through the whole process again, it won't affect it.
