RTTI and 3 years old

Post by bonzo » Mon Jul 25, 2022 10:20 am

My Z4 reached its third birthday on June 27th and almost immediately the RTTI information stopped displaying on the maps. However, the service is booked until late August according to the My BMW application and can't be renewed until I reach this date.

The RTTI information on my previous two BMWs continued to work after three years so I assume that BMW have finally decided to make us pay.

Does anyone know how much it costs to renew the RTTI service?

If you go to your connected drive, it will tell you the cost.

I never extended it as I use Car Play with Waze for that, so have not used the BMW system once I passed the 3 year mark.
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo

Connected Drive doesn't give me a cost as it says that the service is not renewable which I assume is because it's not meant to end until August. This is why I'm perplexed as to why the service has disappeared when BMW think it's still active.

I meant on their web site for connected drive where you can add all available services to your car.
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item

I think it’s all been packaged up so you have to select a package which includes the rtti in the connected drive shop.

Think RTTI now comes as part of the Boost Package? Mine was 3 years old in June although services needed renewing in May? I get live traffic info.

First BM I’ve wanted to keep for longer than 3 years so bought what needed via connected drive store. Didn’t go for map update as only just updated and won’t need it till next year. Boost Package had everything I needed.
2011-14: E89 2.3sDrive
2014-16: E89 35is - Valencia Orange X2 (gone but not forgotten)
2016-17: F33 440i
2017-17: E85 2.5si
2017-19: F87 M2 - Long Beach Blue DCT (Stunning)
2019-23: G29 M40i First Edition (more stunning than the M2)
2023-??: G23 M440i

For £89 a year I've decided I can do without it. The RTTI feature remained active after 3 years on my 335d xDrive so the change of policy for my Z4 has left me feeling a bit p****d off after paying over £45k for the car.

I kind of hope more people make the same decision so that BMW have a rethink but I doubt it'll make any difference.

The Connected Drive had the Concierge service - although i didn’t use it a lot, when I did, it was excellent,

However in the later times i have found it worse than useless. There has often been a delay - but worse, I asked for directions to “The Old Repeater Station” near Hexham in Northumberland - the address they sent to the Sat Nav was near Aberdeen!

My subscription has lapsed. ,,,,!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.
