I love the noise of mine without the foam. Especially because it's quiet when not planting your foot.
Although I still want more so I'll be removing the exhaust back box in the new year :D

Wait until you've been here a while. This place has cost me a fortune!
Fortunately the expected high cost of these 'little seeds' will probably (hopefully) put me off of the idea of any mods!

Have you retro fitted a Sound Generator?

No, I haven't added or removed anything from the Z4 myself. As far as I am aware, the whole car is as it was when driven away from the showroom.
I've never intended on modifying the car aesthetically or under the bonnet, but reading some of the posts on this forum (which I only joined today) has started planting little seeds in my head!

Any advice is welcomed :D
I don't think your car will have a sounds generator... so no foam to remove. I believe that only the 3.0 / 3.0si has the sound generator (does the M?).

Thanks Dan.
Although my 2.2l sounds nice, I'm curious to see if there is anything I can do to make it sound better!

You might be able to fit a soundgen, I think there is a tutorial on here somewhere. Other than that, usual things such as exhaust & induction should provide all the noise you desire!

I want the foam! Mine came pre modded and I'd like to be able to make it a little quieter!

Any old foam should do... nothing special about it.

It is quite dense foam - and the engine side is more sense than the cabin side despite the foam being smaller. However you're right, any decent foam should do. I'd give you mine Rob, but that's one of the little things that will come with the car when I sell it, unless it goes to a dealer for some reason.

Bing could I borrow yours to try and find a good replica? A friend said fish tank filter foam is cylindrical so I was going to try the local marine places but it'd be better if I had a sample about that I could compare to.
