Is it manual or DCT?Dave 2 dogs wrote: ↑Mon Jun 20, 2022 11:04 am On another note , what’s the thoughts on the 35i engine and gearbox being able to hold up against a stage 2 map ?
And what would it give compared to 365 ATM

So the DCT is Getrag's GS7D36SG..there were 4 versions..the E89 had the first version.
BHP is not the issue with gearboxes its torque.
35i has 450 nm as stock and 35is has 500nm through overboost.
The clutches are controlled by pressure at up to 17 BAR which is alledged to related to 600 nm torque.
Other boxes have an 18 BAR limit which relates to 700nm torque.
My 35is on a MHD stage 1 tune V9 made 562nm, on a stage 2+ V9 made 591nm and on stage 2+ V10 made 648nm
So for this and other good reasons xHP is your friend..with a 19 BAR limt it can do 800nm+ and now, released 20 BAR for 1000nm..(stage 3)
That is if you tune it..
What's very important at this end of town is that the tune and the gearbox talk in full to each other..so piggy back tuners and back street maps are a really bad idea as the geasrbox may not realise how much torque is being produced and as a result does not applye nough clamping pressure..once DCT clutches slip they burn out very fast.
Auto boxes like the ZF 8HP have torque limiters which saves the box from its own demise..the DCT hasn't got them.
xHP allows you to place torque limits but without a dyno you don't know whether you are skirting close to the edge..
My new turbos are predicted to make around 735 nm so a 19 BAR limit should work nicely.
I spent the day tweaking xHP and MHD and I've got it to a very nice place in terms of smoothness, response and performance.

Interesting… I went that route also
But mainly because I hadn’t gad the car very long when I ordered the exhaust, and i was thinking I’d need to add a rear diffuser to the cost to accommodate the quads . Which at the time stretched me a bit, if I’d known eisenmann would have kept me waiting 12 weeks I’d have got the diffuser sorted. I’ve always regretted not getting the quad setup

Hi John e89 and B21
The quaife LSD is on order with birds . For September. Looking forward to having it done. I’m going to have a chat with Kevin re - suspension options for next year, he has some amazing feedback from the work he’s done there, hopefully he can put together a package for me

I can vouch for Kevin Bird, he used to look after my E30 325i and uprated it to a full Hartge tune including engine suspension and exhaust and put a Racelogic paddle shifters for the sport auto gearbox back in the day when paddle shifters weren't around. I spoke to him for advice about which model E89 Z4 to go for (between the 30i and 35i) before I bought mine. Very knowledgeable when it comes to BMWs although a bit pricey you can be assured of the quality and standard of work.Dave 2 dogs wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 8:57 pm Hi John e89 and B21

Well ,
I’m always impressed with what you guys do with your cars here. That’s a lot of great feedback in that one text you just sent SILVESTER .
Thanks so much for your input. I was already blown away with the feedback they get … having someone on here speaking highly of them is worth it weight . So , thank you. Looking forward to having the conversation with him regarding suspension options, he’s biggest problem is my lack of knowledge and him trying to explain in a language I can understand as I say, quaife booked in . And intention to go back next year for some sort of suspension package. I need to take a list of questions with me . I hoping he can do something suspension wise without lowering the car . That could be a dealbreaker for me

I believe he has a suspension kit for the E89 which has received good praise in the motoring press but I think it does lower the car. It would probably be best to have that conversation with him, he will guide you as to what's possible according to your requirements.Dave 2 dogs wrote: ↑Mon Jul 18, 2022 9:35 pm Well ,
