Z4 E89 Tyre Pressure monitoring valves
Hi folks
A quick question.
I need some new TPMS sensors and valves. Checking on Amazon you can get 4 for £50 and apparently they are pre coded. Bmw wants £320. Has anyone tried this option?
Any thoughts?

Can’t comment on the Amazon ones but I’ve bought genuine BMW ones and recommend them the other day

Do the valves work without the sensors?
I prefer the look of them

I thought the TPMS on the E89 was done by wheel rotation speed, rather than having sensors in the tyres. Does anyone know the definitive answer on this? Keep seeing differing info.

They definitely have electronic sensors in the valves on my 2016 e89 2.0.

Pretty sure there is a change over point, possibly with the LCI?
Mine is a 64-plate and has the sensors.

That might explain it then as mines a 2012 pre-lci model.

That's odd as it then appears mine is earlier but has them?
You on original wheels?

Nope, I'm on M4 19" which I bought without tyres, so I know there are no valves. Of course I checked the original 18" before changing and they had rubber valve stems - no TPMS. Swapped over with no issues.

AFAIK it came in separately to the LCI upgrade. I have an 2014 LCI, but no TPMS, just TPM (or Flat Tyre Monitor/FTM as its called in iDrive on mine).. I believe these are named differently in the idrive interface...
