Wheels in a Z4 e85

I have a plan to pick up some 18 inch wheels (no tyres) but would need to do this in the zed....looking for reassurance that this is indeed possible. I am sure that one in the boot, one on passenger floor and two on passenger seat has been done before.... seller thinks I am bonkers

To be honest, it's definitely the kind of madness I'd agree with. I would for the sake of your safety, strap up the 3 wheels together, to minimise movement, and put the seatbelt around them for good measure.

Cheers for that enthusiastic encouragement - any experience yourself of trying this though or am I mad. It's a long way to go to find that it can't be done :(

Your other option, is to get the alloys transported to you, there's a few companies that do it online. I don't have any experience of using any but its probably safer and I doubt you'd make a huge saving driving all that way and back again. Personally, I like the adventure, I'd way up the options, probably borrow a mates van or hatchback and get them. But if time's precious, and options are limited, get them transported.

Just so happens that I will be in the area after 150 miles so I will carry on i think. I am sure I have read that it is possible- will have a look using search function on topics

Without putting a damper on your parade, it may be worth looking at the legalities of it just in case it causes insurance or pc plodd issues.

I managed to get two 18" tyres in the boot of my previous Coupe. I don't know but for sure but you might just manage to get 2 wheels without tyres in the boot.

Hopefully someone on here may know, but good luck anyway.

Thanks for this Mr Tidy, I found that post by Jamie a little earlier as well. I was sure someone had done this previously. Looks like it should be ok

Hopefully - two in the boot will work as I'm not sure I'd want 3 in the cabin!

I put one 18" rim on the passenger seat in mine earlier this year and only just got the door shut.

Be careful, we do daft things when we are young, I remember giving a lift to 3 friends in my MG midget, 1 in the back and 2 on the passenger seat. Looking back I cringe.

When my roadster arrived on a trailer from N Wales, there were 2 x 18” wheels in the boot, so they definitely fit. It was either MV1s or 108s or one of each, without tyres of course. Two in the passenger seat should go OK, or take out the seat for good measure.

4 Wheels with no tyres, easy. Its the tyres that make things difficult, basically doubles the volume required. But yeah might even get two wheels in the boot if there are no tyres to worry about. Get the tape measure out, if youve got 19" by 37" youre good to go.
