Rust Issue

Post by Benderloch » Sat Oct 23, 2021 5:45 pm

Evening all

I have the start of some rust appearing on the top edge of the horizontal joint between the rear wing and the lower panel.

Before I start, had anyone any advice about removing the lower panel

Thanks.

The Rust will be in the Upper wing ......at both forward and behind the back wheel, probably best to take the Wing off to de-rust, as it normally starts from behind. Will post a pic in the morning of a recently removed Panel with same symptoms.
The Lower panel has a series of plastic clips holding it on ,If you look underneath the car and in the door opening.

When I took mine off a couple of years ago, I found it's best to have some spare plastic rivets since they can break, flea bay is a good place to start. Also there is a body nut and a screw that you will also have to undo, part numbers 9 and 7

Here's a link which should help you with the removing and fitting the side skirts which should be a quick and simple job

To sort is it just a matter of taking it down to bare metal and treating with hammerite or similar?
