Air bag modules
My car is turning into money bin at present, and certainly not what I had in mind... these things never are.
So, the latest expense is the air bag modules. Following some water ingress, the garage is recommending we replace the satellite sensors both sides, which I am ok with.. however he is now saying we need to replace the centre unit also 'to be sure' and guarantee his work as he 'cannot guarantee the unit has not been tampered with' I was initially fine with this... until he told me the cost, ยฃ1500 from bmw for all 3.
I dont want to avoid doing the work if there is a risk with the modules for what ever reason, as they are safety related, but at the same time, this is getting expensive.
I have spoke to some shops that can refurb these units but they said no the second I mentioned water ingress.
Any forum thoughts? Im starting to lose the will to live on this
Cheers

I suggest you find a Person that has experience with Airbag issues as changing modules will not guarantee a fix .

Been in touch via PM and shared my views, currently trying to sort Youdy's 3.0l Z4 that had an internal airbag module fault we spent the afternoon taking the faulty centre module out and plugged a used one with same part numbers as the failed one in. Attemps to code it to the car using NCS Expert seems to have failed, its not taking the Vin Number off Youdy's car which results in the airbag light staying on still and setting a code for incorrect Vin Number. Ran out of time today and will do some more research on NCS Coding , annoying as the last one I did was on a Z3 and it coded first go. Will start a new thread for Youdy's problem.

To be honest it's really hard to give a opinion without knowing the fault codes you are having. If you have these (INPA, BMW Scanner are very cheap ways to get fault codes) But my first thought is that replacing all 3 modules is just overkill and the easy way out. Unless your car has gone for a swim...
