Decent independent Cambridge area?

Not strictly a dealership thread but I'm looking for recommendations for an independent garage, BMW specialist would be great, in the Cambridge/Stansted area. My trusted independent is closing down; father retiring & moving to Southern Europe son doesn't want to take on the family business.

Any recommendations?

Hi I've just had a load of work done on a X3 at an independent BMW specialist in Huntington called Bartletts, not the cheapest but a good service and they know what they are talking about,

Bartletts are well recommended but I've not used them before. Gareth from BMW Elms Cambridge is there now (S54 expert) and he is rated very highly.

Also in the area is Bensten Motors in St Ives. They were recommended by a Z4 driver I met at a car wash. They seem pretty good, though I've not had any major work done.

+1 for Bartletts in Huntingdon, service was great!

fitted Polybushes, tyres, MOT'd and sorted my tracking. Dropped me off at the station so i could get into London and stayed late so i could pick the car up when the trains were running slowly on the way home.

Hi all,

I just bought a 2006 Z4 3.0si on saturday. I'm living in central Cambridge and so now also looking for a good garage to look after my new car when it needs it. Has anyone used German Tech cars? It's very close to where I live, so if it's any good then that would be ideal. Otherwise looks like I'll be checking out Barletts too. Does Barletts do courtesy cars? Getting a train back from Huntingdon to Cambridge would be a bit of a faf as I'd have to go down via Hitchin by the looks of it.

Thanks!

The only person I know who's dealt with them wasn't happy with their service, but they also couldn't name a garage they were happy with.

I used the guys at German Tech as I was working like 12 meters away from them.

Highly recommend their knowledge although as someone who normally works on their own car, paying labour hurts!

I was just looking to see if anyone had started a review for Bartletts independent BMW MINI and Porsche centres on here… they now cover Huntingdon and Peterborough. My Z4 is off there tomorrow so will start a new thread to report on my most recent experience… we are having a major service and an MoT after a winter SORN. Having used Damian and his team previously I’d have no problem recommending their skills and knowledge as well as their customer service. Oh and I’ve booked a courtesy bicycle! So long as it doesn’t snow
