Thanks for the replies all. Currently sat in the dealers whilst they have a look and see if it can be repaired.

I’ll let you all know 8)

Tyre replacement

ori, Indeed, repaired tyre doesn't mean it's bad as long as it's properly done. I actually know some people who practice drift using repaired tyres to save some cost and haven't heard anything bad from them. The main thing is that you need a good repairer who can properly assess the damage and give proper recommandation accordingly, instead of simply repair whatever you give them then take the momey and go away.

My bad experience was when I was having a road trip in Tibet. I didn't have options other than let the guy repair the tyre. So it's a bit extreme case. But after that, I simply don't want to try the tyre repair route.

So, it needed replacing.

Sidewall was partially shot, and it looks like the nail had split into various pieces and caused multiple cuts.

New tyre now on, and the dealer gave the car a decent check over as well.

Even run-flats suffer from sidewalls breaking up if driven any distance with low pressure in them so a replacement was probably the best option.

Yes agreed. In hindsight I feel better with a new boot on it.

A bit interested in the price quoted by the dealer.

£250 fitted and balanced. It was actually a bit cheaper than most of the online places when I looked - some of the fitting surcharges were quite high.

That's not bad from a dealer.
Cheapest I can find from reputable online tyre seller is about £200 + £15 fitting so not big difference. Tyre being checked and replaced by dealer together save you a lot hassle.

    That’s not bad at all.

You know you are getting three bmw marked ones too.

I think about £230 online from black circles.
