Dash and Trim Noise

Post by TeaserUK » Wed Mar 02, 2022 5:34 pm

I took delivery of my new S20i at the end of November and the gloss plastic trims developed really hard clicking/cracking noises, rattling driver side window, noisy cracking roof trim so I complain to dealer and the result after 4 pieces of trim replaced and aquapel treatment to the windows during 5 weeks (!) in the workshop things seems to have improved - now with the weather the HUD housing has started creaking/cracking stops when pressed for the journey but comes back, plus there are all-over occasional creaks on our rubbish UK roads. Be honest please dear forum is it me being unrealistic of what I should expect in a new Z4? Is it temp related? Are they all a bit noisy and it-is-what-it-is or am I just really unlucky? Thanks for your honest thoughts!

Dash and Trim Noise

Sorry to hear about your experience. I have an irritating rattle/vibration somewhere around the stereo head unit. It only happens in a very specific type of road surface. The higher grip and sometimes coloured tarmac or normal stuff with the same composition.

It only happens 1-2% of the time when driving but is bloody annoying when it does. I’ve not been back at the dealer since I bought it but will mention it the first time the car is in.

Watched the video. Thanks a lot as that’s 20 minutes of my life I won’t get back!!! 🥱

Not a problem I’ve experienced TBH and usually found BMW dealer and customer service happy to help resolve any issues. Although I must point out I’m not ginger.

I haven't got the window squeak, but another thing to 'look forward' to. I might try the alcantara tape on the HUD, anyone know how to pop off the HUD trim?

I don’t have any such problem on my G29.

From the video, I really don’t think it would bother me that much, sounds like something that a squirt of WD40 would fix. :D
