Anyone bother getting a display key? I don’t see much use for it other than a nice gimmick.
Prices are crazy for them unless you buy a second hand one which you can’t use anyway as it’s already programmed for another car!

If it wasn’t £800 to buy maybe! Looking at reviews it seems heavy and pointless. Just looks cool.

I'm not 100% sure how they do that but that won't involve your identity so you identity shouldn't be stolen. For the little bit that I know, it's a generic key that you can program yourself with some key programmer. Because of this, the key can basically work with any brand of car. Then, for the BMW specific feature, I believe it's running android OS and you can install the myBMW app to do those thing. In a very simple way to describe the whole thing, you can consider it as buying an android device with programmable car key built in and it looks exactly the same as BMW display key with more colour and material options. The screen/battery/wireless charging spec is even better than the BMW display key. Most importantly, it's only about £70 (assuming exchange rate is 1:9).
Peresonally, I think it's rubbish, meaningless, and total waste of money and time. However, I also think BMW display key matches 80% of these descriptions.

The Display key is not an option for the G29, at least it is not configurable in the configurator (double checked on the UK site as well).
If it was I might have gotten it and then never used it again after the first week

Everyone says the same. It’s big and bulky and requires constant charging. Some cars had the the option to start it and self park (USA I think). Different ball game then. Squeeze car into tight garage or pull it out for you.
