Not sure if it’s a placebo..on the E85s the strut towers were weak and the brace was a useful addition..not so sure on the E89..anyway it’s been added…do you think I should spray it gloss / satin black?

Heh heh…yes it’s either yellow or black…in my old age I’m going for a mellow look in the engine bay..hence maybe covering up that stainless steel strut brace?

No leave it as it is. I do think mine felt a little stiffer once fitted but like you say not sure if it was in my head. I've got Bilstein B8 front dampers to go on it once the rears arrive but the rears are on back orange not expected until April

Yes everything seems to be on back order..more of my goodies are still waiting to ship from the States…been on order since end of November.Jollyjoiner wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 10:20 pmNo leave it as it is. The Bilstein B8 is a good shock…what springs are you mating them with?
Interesting article on strut braces here..given the E89 shares many of the later E90 chassis and has plenty of bracing elsewhere it does tend to suggest a placebo effect..

If you’re painting the strut black you should with satin black over the gloss, gloss would be way too shiny.
Mine in satin:

Yes I think satin is the way forward..not sure my paint main can do this next week when it goes in for its rear spoiler paint n fit plus colour reversal on the valance and diffuser.Beeacon wrote: ↑Fri Jan 14, 2022 11:31 pm If you’re painting the strut black you should with satin black over the gloss, gloss would be way too shiny.

I have Eibach pro springs on at the moment so these will be going on to the Bilsteins dampers. Also been looking at the H&R anti roll bars too.

Noted, the Eibach springs would be too low for Scottish roads and hooning, I got the impression they were pretty stiff?Jollyjoiner wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 7:39 amI have Eibach pro springs on at the moment so these will be going on to the Bilsteins dampers. When you consider the 35i has the same ARB as the 18i it’s due an upgrade

They not too low, I they only drop the 35i 20mm rear and 10mm fronts, ride not much different to the standard ride but lower.B21 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 10:34 amNoted, the Eibach springs would be too low for Scottish roads and hooning, I got the impression they were pretty stiff?Jollyjoiner wrote: ↑Sat Jan 15, 2022 7:39 amI have Eibach pro springs on at the moment so these will be going on to the Bilsteins dampers. The Ohlins is a 10mm drop on the front and 0mm on the rear relative to the 35is stock settings..ride is much better than the stock 35is FWIW

Hi, I had seen in it in the distant past..each to their own..more 'style' over function, IMHO, but obviously loved by its owner.N4LLY wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 6:40 pm Not going through 18 pages to check, but you seen this mate ?

Front splitters don't do much for me bouncing over the single track roads of the Scottish Highlands but heh..
If you want serious design effort and mega bucks look at this thread..
