New user here up in North Shropshire, have been lurking for awhile and reading posts and looking at adverts etc learning and getting a bit obsessed to my wife's annoyance (ooh look at this one etc), haven't got a Zed yet but have the money and have decided I want a manual 3.0Si either E85 or 86 but can't decide between roadster or coupe, keep flipping back and forth!

Hi Nickszed, I had a 3.0si for a few years & it was a great car - lots of info on here about points to be aware of.
Here’s a pic of my old car to look at :)

Hello and welcome, the good old coupe or roadster conundrum, my simple answer is that you can put the roof up with a roadster but you can’t put the roof down with a coupe

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I had a couple of manual 3.0Si Coupes and loved them both, so here's a photo of my 2nd one for some inspiration!

A nice dilemma to have! Depending on how soon you are looking to buy you are more likely to find an E86 Coupe than a E85 roadster Si. Both great cars, good luck with your search 👍

Yeah it certainly seem that there are more 3.0 Coupes around than Roadsters, is that people holding on for perhaps better prices in the spring?

2189 x E86 produced for the UK versus only 963 x E85 3.0Si, hence the roadster is rarer engine for engine.

If you extended your E85 search beyond the 3.0Si, then there is plenty of choice.

The Coupe and Roadster are different beasts. Which one is for you depends on what you want from it.

Having also pondered the same 3.0si dilemma about a year ago I decided Roadster - based on a) I wouldn't often feel the benefit of a slightly stiffer car - and the roof down sensation of speed to me outweighed the benefits on country roads. b) i'm not using it as a daily so the noise and reduced all year round comfort wasn't a problem - heated seats etc also compensated c) I have the ability to store over winter if wanted. Not everyone's list of priorities but that's how I made my choice, fun rather than serious.

Roadster for me, even a slow ‘potter about’ in the sun with the widows down is an experience…. Putting the windows down in a coupe just isn’t the same :fuelfire:
