I’ve never yet known someone who has a ZF8HP box and decided that a manual is a better option.
I’d always have chosen manual previously but in the correct modes for what I want to do my G29 is a delight to drive.

On our last forum run out I was using the paddles a lot more than before. Don’t know if that was the type of roads, me getting more used to the car, or the rate we were travelling at but from my point of view I don’t think having a manual would’ve made it any more enjoyable an experience or would’ve allowed me to cover the ground any quicker.

I think I was covering the ground at a reasonable pace in my auto as manual driving as idej_z4, could confirm as we spent most of the weekend in tandem  :driving:

And yes that’s IN tandem not ON a bloody tandem
That wouldn't be a pretty sight! :crazydude:

I'd only end up having to do all the work as well...you blummin auto drivers wouldn't know what to do with a manually operated tandem bike. :poke:

I've had over 30 cars since the late 70s and only 4 were Autos because they weren't generally available with a manual box.

So in my case it's just what I've nearly always had and still prefer.

Those were old torque convertor autos with 3 or 4 gears so pretty antique to be fair! I'm sure modern DCTs are far better but I just don't want one - in much the same way as I'd never want a car with white or black paint!
Coupes because stunning!
Current - Silver Grey MC, Imola Red heated Nappa & carbon trim. Aeros, H & R Coil-overs, 224s, OE Strut brace, Nav, cup-holders, DSP Hi-Fi, pdc, cruise, MFSW, no CDV! E90 330i daily
Gone - Montego Blue
Gone - Ruby Black

Rumour - Manual Transmission in the Supra

I remember an old pal having a Cortina with the Borg Warner 35 Gearbox - That was dreadful
Three speed, torque convertor - It could never decide if it wanted 2nd or 3rd gear.

You did say "far better" - i would say that's an understatement!
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I struggle to truly love the DCT in the M4(the 370 is a manual though), so I'm really hoping that the Supra does get offered with a manual for sure. 8) :driving:

I just don't like the disconnected feeling that you get from a 2 pedal performance car, but I don't mind an auto in a comfortable/wafty type of car though.

In my very humble opinion, a manual adds something in an older car which in all other respects feels more raw and visceral than a modern equivalent. However, in modern cars that I've driven (I appreciate there will be exceptions) you feel so cosseted and removed from the mechanics of the car that a manual gearbox just feels like a dated inconvenience. It's such a different experience in say a 2005 car compared to a 2020 car.

Was a hardcore manual guy before buying a c63.

I would have to drive both Supra's back to back before making a decision. I don't think that the auto box on my C63 detracts from the driving and it's a breeze driving a 500bhp+ auto in traffic rather than stomping on a heavy clutch pedal every 30 seconds.

I think I would be happy with either. I wouldn't want an e86 with an auto but something with silly power to me feels better having both hands on the wheel and clicking a paddle. I like short and quick gear changes rather than a manual with such long ratio's that you can 80mph in second.

If it was a daily and I was sat in traffic I would lean towards the auto box.

I’m struggling to understand what you mean by that graphic? Are you saying all eBike riders are gay? Bit of a generalisation…

For all you know I could be getting on, or have a long-term injury that means I can’t ride like I used to but still miss the fun of the trails – that isn’t the case, I just prefer flying down the mountain more than the uphill slog and on an eBike I can cut that time down by 3/4 (which makes more time for the fun stuff).

The bike I’ve got doesn’t exactly look like the coming out type either!!!

One of these has a ZF8 one has a 6 speed manual

I wouldn’t swop either gearbox to other car, both cars suit the g/box they’ve got

Can you guess which one is the Spanish gearbox model ?
