What have you done to your car today?

MikeyH wrote: Sun Nov 14, 2021 12:27 am That looks really nice, is it easy to do or did you need to dismantle the whole console?
Cheers!!! Yes, fairly easy. First of all, prise the leather gearstick gaiter up at a corner and pop it off. Doesn't need to come all the way off just off the plastic part as you can thread the gaiter through the plastic part as you remove it. Then the plastic gear stick surround pops off its clips - I used a small trim removal tool to get underneath it and prise it up. Take your time to avoid breaking any tabs underneath.

The hazard/locking button block pushes out from the back towards you then you can either disconnect it from the wiring block (I found mine wouldn't budge) or again, turn it on its side and squeeze it through. The small flat/curved piece further down nearer the handbrake will just slide out if you push gently down and forward.

Hope that helps!

Thank you, sounds not to bad to do, might give it a go when I have more time.
Now, Sterling grey Z4 2.2 with cup holders, stubby aerial and sport seats. Roadsters ‘cause they’re great with the roof down.
Ford Anglia, Red Sprite, a few MG midgets, MGB Roadster and yellow Ford Capri, all gone many years now.

Installed “individual” dashboard trim today (to go with the wheels lol). Centre console will have to wait as it’s a bit more involved.
I never noticed how many alu/silver trim pieces there were in the cabin before I did this; I might have to change all of them. :(

The car has been sitting in the garage unused for the last six weeks currently sorned until the springtime.
I thought it was high time the battery charger was clipped on - Its now sitting on a maintenance charge at 12,4v
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

Installed 2 new hood lift assist struts, 2 new trunk assist struts, took off my front bumper (yikes!), installed 2 new horns, and removed both headlights for moisture removal/drying/new rear seals.

Then, I added this long-contemplated piece: a custom rear windscreen with red LED illumination.

I'll post another photo when I get it wired.

Finally collected it from having a 4-wheel alignment to CSL spec.

It turned into a bit of a major operation so I now have new inner and outer track rod ends both sides because the originals were siezed solid and a new N/S rear lower outer ball-joint because the rubber on the existing one was twisted. :(

I'm looking forward to going for a decent drive but initial impression is it feels a bit more playful on the rear - and the steering wheel is now straight!
Coupes because stunning!

Birds completed an LSD install into a 3.46 donor diff (massive improvement from the 3.07 standard). Not had the chance to "test" the LSD yet if you know what I'm saying...!

Took it to its MOT; failed. The front right calliper is binding, which I first noticed and suspected yesterday due to a small vibration through the wheel and an ever so slight pull to the right. Not ideal, but not a big deal either after 15 years. Compliments all round from the mechs otherwise, so the Z’s in good hands. New calliper ordered and will be replaced first thing Monday morning

Four Alfa's and a Ducati later, I've turned to the dark side...
