Part of the new car experience is sitting down and working what you want - then to be given a take it or leave it choice at delivery time isn’t good.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

I can’t verify that of course and it’s based on conjecture unless the guy I spoke to knows for 100% thats whats happening which again I can’t confirm. I’m going to ask the question straight to them, and I’d want something signing to back up what they say if it’s wrong.

I'd be surprised if Porsche, or any manufacturer, was doing that, it's breach of contract and could open up a whole can of worms.

My car update is that production is scheduled for 4th October. May move forward, but unlikely now.
Deliver scheduled for 24th October.
Really do think this rumour of production stopping is bs.

To be fair it tends to rain somewhere in Madeira every day in my experience as a former time-share owner. But there is usually a dry bit somewhere!
At least we are in October now so getting nearer to your delivery day.
Coupes because stunning!

Ori / Sars - what options did you spec on your cars? My M40i order is currently poverty spec (bar a wind deflector), but just wondering if all options are still currently available to order in case I decide to add any later!

It’s a lovely place, will certainly go back, last weekend we were walking up in the Yorkshire Worlds at the top of a hill looking down over Millington below us, the height is around 180 m above sea level, our villa was at 350 m and the highest peak was 1820 m which is above low level clouds and as such often sunny. You gotta love hills though
Mine has the Technology, comfort and driving assistance packs. I would suggest that the Technology and comfort packs are a must. The technology pack because the standard stereo is probably not adequate to enjoy music with the top down, I can’t find the specification for the standard but it will probably be 100 watts over six speakers. The comfort pack has a the wind deflector, heated steering, lumber support etcetera. I’m not a fan of adaptive headlights so did not go with the visibility pack. Yes I have an M40i now on order after originally starting with a 20i and then toying with changing to a 30i, but ending up going the full monty and ordering the M40! Unfortunately it meant an additional delay of 5 weeks as the 20i order had to be cancelled and a new one raised for the M40i. Been waiting 5 weeks so far and no scheduled date for build as of yet

blaster1956,
Blaster, I’m with sars, the comfort pack is a must for what it includes but if you decide not to go for it specify the wind deflector on its own @ £170 as I think all the parts individually for retrofit are circa £450 but for me heated wheel, keyless entry etc are worth the total cst of the pack.
The Technology pack again is something I’d tick as a must. The standard stereo was ok with the roof up but with it down wasn’t up to what I wanted particularly when tramping on a bit I also really like the Heads Up Display. Never had it before but it shows everything I need.
I went for adaptive cruise, one of the things I like most but depends how/where you’re driving. Haven’t really tried the headlights pack yet as it’s not been out much at night.
The other thing to consider is at the other end, a lower spec car may struggle to sell privately or trade in could be a good bit lower than one with some/all the toys

The adaptive lights option is a must for me - my current E89 has them - but it lacks the main beam assist option.
My 335 has the full set up and I like it - I’ve never been flashed so it hasn’t dazzled anyone yet.

Thanks for the feedback ronk/Andy.
I think based on my use of the car as mainly a spring/summer car - think weekend jaunts, with a few longer UK holidays and European road trips thrown in, I wouldn’t necessarily get much value from adaptive headlights or heated steering wheel - (in fact I never once used the heated steering wheel in my full fat E89!). I’m personally not a big fan of Cruise Control either, so wouldn’t miss that I feel. Keyless entry I’ve never had, so in the interests of keeping costs down I’d probably not go for the comfort pack, but I have specified the Wind Deflector.
Tech Pack does sound interesting though, anyone use the Parking Aid or is it a gimmick? I like the sound of the blind spot warning function in the driver assistance pack (although not much else in that pack tbh!) - would be interested in any feedback as to how useful the driver assistance pack is.
Interestingly I follow Bimmerpost as well and there have been reports of Z4 orders having their HUD option removed in the States because of the chip shortage, not clear if that is just an isolated issue with the HUD or indicative of a wider problem with the technology pack.
