Nothing interesting today just went for a drive.
You know you bought the right car when you’ve driven it every weekend since you bought it!

What have you done to your car today?

Post by enuff_zed » Sun Sep 26, 2021 4:28 pm

My young apprentice from across the road (Z-Edward) has spent the weekend helping me do the vanos overhaul on the 2.2i. OK, so it took at least twice as long as normal, but the satisfaction of watching him wield the spanners was worth it.
I owe him an apology as he indignantly informed me he is 9!, not 7 as previously reported
This morning he appeared at 8am and we set to, changing the seals etc. About an hour later I casually asked him what he'd had for breakfast? "Nothing! I wanted to start fixing the car! I told Mum I'd have some later."
Commendable attitude but I packed him off home while I had a coffee.
Honestly, it's not the car fixing that has satisfied me this time round, but the look on his face when I took him for a (slightly longer than necessary) test drive.
HQ of 'Norfolk Zed Rescue'.
Always happy to help if I can.

If the forum helped you, why not help the forum back. Thats the Z4 way!

You just can't beat a bit of sweatshop child labour, really every home should have at least one.
Abstinence is fine, in moderation.

Continuing the “kids” theme, I bought a cruise control stalk for my lad’s birthday today. He fitted it while I dremelled the cut-out in the steering cowl. I wish I had the dremel when I did mine, it was much easier than with a jigsaw.

Decided to have a look at the inside of a rear light, might see if I can get round to doing something with it.

Well... Not so much today per se, but rather this weekend.

Swapped my 6-week old (to me) white 3.0Si for a Tiefgrün metallic on Friday, then gave it a quick clean on Saturday. It'll get a full detail, paint correction and ceramic coat in a few weeks once we have a free weekend in the shop

Today I’ve mainly been giving Kinger a hand removing the defunct water pump from his 35is, the car was on ramps but space was still tight & the uppermost retaining bolt was an absolute pig to reach as the pump’s positioned just above the anti roll bar.
It’s off the car now & waiting for the replacement to arrive tomorrow
