If like me you only use your M for 6 months during the the fair weather months then you probably either disconnect the battery or connect a trickle charger to it during the winter months. I got annoyed of needing to remove the battery cover to gain access to the battery terminals so I installed a CTEK comfort indicator panel will prevents the need to remove the battery cover and also acts as a charge indicator.

Can you not use the battery terminal underneath the bonnet (near the bulkhead), what I usually do?

Yes I also use the terminals under the bonnet, however this does look like a better option as it saves having to keep popping the bonnet to disconnect. Can I ask how much the kit was and where did you purchase it from.

Cheapest place I found was Amazon for the Comfort Indicator Panel. Believe is was £25. Works with all CTEK chargers :thumbsup:

Don't you still have to pop the "boot" to disconnect this as well? What am I missing here?

These are great accessories for CTEK chargers. This installation looks really neat and tidy. Having it in the boot is also more convenient than under the bonnet. Just don’t forget to unplug it before driving off!

I just use the quick connect lead, it just pops out under the tool pocket.

I went for the trailing lead version of this, which is attached with ring terminals in the engine bay to the +ve terminal and earth. It then threads under the back of the bonnet by the base of the wipers. I can then see it without opening a door or the boot as I have a cover over the car. The light is bright enough to shine through the fleece indoor cover - I also have one on the Clio, so over winter I just switch the CTEK from one to the other when one of them turns to amber or red. Cheaper than buying another CTEK for the timebeing.

When the car is in use, the cable just threads back into the engine bay and tucked out of the way. All cables have been routed within the loom, so it looks factory.
