Yes both these are on my radar. I was hoping th roof issue would be down to the common fault I have read about on here and google. Guess it is one of those were you pay your money and take your chances......

Think I will speak to zed shed in the morning and get a guide on prices and then take it from there. Appreciate your input on this!

That second car just looks right, even though it’s slightly higher mileage. It gets my vote.Ole gits rule wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 7:30 pm Not certain I would want that with the roof not operating, not a forum car and yes a few years older but have you seen these -

Rather the second one with a working roof than one with a faulty roof but its over to the op to take a look at what could be wrong with the one he posted aboutZedebee wrote: ↑Tue Apr 06, 2021 8:49 pmThat second car just looks right, even though it’s slightly higher mileage. The 2.5i you listed is the lowest power model of the facelift 6s, around 170ish bhp iirc, unlike the 2.5si at 218 so not ideal with no heated seats and a non working roof, personally id avoid
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

If you started off wanting a 3.0i I think you'd soon find a facelift 2.5i disappointing, whereas a facelift 2.5Si might be a reasonable compromise.
Coupes because stunning!

You have confirmed my fears about the bhp. I have been trying to convince myself that missing bhp wouldn’t make a difference. Back to the drawing board me thinks.

It's a shame, but you don't want to regret buying a car soon after you've bought it!
I think the facelift 2.5i was intended as a replacement for the pre-facelift 2.2i as it has similar power - and you wouldn't think of buying a 2.2i!
Hopefully a decent 3.0i will turn up soon.

I was 100% wanting electric seats in my Z4 for the same reason. Short wife, tall ish me.
And heating was always nice on cold day driving with the roof down.
But I'm not sure the seat heating matters once you're warmed up... just at first it's nice.
I'd extend the search to 2.5Si and 3.0Si just to cover more cars. Ie, a higher mileage 3.0Si with the right options might be worth it over a lower miler 3.0i with a missing option for instance.
Also with the Si you should get the m-sport seats as standard which are an absolute essential item in my opinion.
They're the best BMW seat ever. Everything else is inferior.

Just bear in mind that facelift models were offered with SE or Sport trim levels, and the M-Sport seats (which are very desirable for a good reason) were only standard on the Sport models, which also had lower and stiffer M-Sport suspension and an M-Sport steering wheel.Mr Whippy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 07, 2021 2:24 pm I'd extend the search to 2.5Si and 3.0Si just to cover more cars. Ideally, you're looking at 218bhp+
2.5Si Sport (m sport seats standard, but maybe not heating or electric)
3.0i (electric as standard, but maybe not heating, also m sport seats very rare)
3.0Si Sport (electric as standard, but maybe not heating)
I've seen and driven and owned 25,000 mile examples, and 125,000+ examples of all of these, and the mileage is kinda irrelevant really.
By now they're all 10+ years old and need money spending. That is the critical variable. Have they had it spent. If not, then they need to be cheaper. If they have, then great. Then what is the mileage/general condition any way.
In my view, all the models above fit the bill within a given budget now, within reason.
So definitely don't limit yourself to the early cars unless there is a specific reason. Ie, looks. Or the right spec car is available etc.
Having just looked on AT, wow, not much around locally. Never mind for £4k.
It really is going to be a case of going a fair way to look at them, and seeing a lot of crap, before you find one that fits the bill... they are out there, just takes time for them to appear.
