Best DA polisher (Without spending a fortune)
Thinking of buying a DA Polisher. What is the best value machine without it costing an arm and leg. What is the Aldi machine like ? Got a 3 year warranty

The one in your link looks like a rotary rather than a DA mate.
Something like this is what I would buy:

I have done 4 cars now using mine. I didn't listen to advice and bought foam pads rather than microfiber and it took me an age. But it might be worth starting off with foam pads as there is very little damage you can do with them.
This guys channel is an excellent resource:

+1 for the Clean Your Car polishers. I opted for this one for the throw and comfort, but I've also had the one above which is a great starter polisher. https://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/das-6-pr ... n-polisher

I’m using a DAS 6 Pro, mines about 10 years old and still going strong.
I’d be tempted to look at a slightly different set up to the ‘package’ listed though for BMW paint. Megs 101 foam cut (can be used on microfibre pads) and Megs 205 ultra finishing polish.

DA = Dual Action. Yes it's rotary but it has an offset spin action. So in theory you shouldn't burn the lacquer/ paint

Unless you’re at expert ninja level the rotary polisher will easily end in tears, the DA is always recommended to save money on respray costsblunderthumbs wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:15 pmPardon my ignorance but what is the difference ? Imagine it was sunny and you had a magnifying glass and you moved it very slowly across a black piece of paper very slowly from left to right. That's your rotary.
Now imagine the same scenario but moved it across the plane but as you were doing it you moved it slightly up, down, left and right whilst moving it from left to night. That's your DA.
The heat from a rotary is concentrated in one place. the rotary moves the pads (and the heat) over the panel in a less of a concentration. For noobs like you and me- we don't touch them rotary's

Meguirs DA for me as long as you ditch the standard foam pads that come with it and purchase some better pads.

In addition, a good DA is more than capable enough to correct serious paint defects. A rotary achieves the same end result, but faster which is why Pro’s and paint shops use them.mgrlane wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:51 pm Imagine it was sunny and you had a magnifying glass and you moved it very slowly across a black piece of paper very slowly from left to right. Take your time with a DA, think tortoise & hare
I’ve been out in the garage this afternoon and done my drivers door, rear& front wing... therapeutic way to spend a couple of hours

I was a complete novice where these things are concerned and learned everything I needed from this site. I purchased a Vonhaus machine at a very reasonable price and have found it gives great results. Slightly noisy but most are. Gets No 1 ratings. See below.
