Valve cover gasket replacement
Thats a lot easier than the later engines. Thats a ballache, with cables, injector rails , eccentric motors. Even the gasket doesnt fit as well. If you do the later gasket, then my mate advises a little glue in places and let it set to stop the gasket moving when refitting . Guess what I am having to do in the next few weeks, yes taking it all off again.

Valve cover gasket replacement
One of the sloppier VCG replacement videos I've seen tbh.
Could have taken time to give things a proper cleanup while the cover was off.
Used WAY too much RTV and applied on the wrong surface - should have applied a smear on the corners and half-moons on the head surface and not the gasket.
Didn't pattern torque the bolts down properly.
What the jiggery pokery was all that horsehair type stuff around the vanos?? Looks like someone had a haircut in there!!
And I'd also be quite concerned about the small amount of mayo that had collected on the inside of the valve cover too.
5/10. Must try harder.

Valve cover gasket replacement
Well this is a mare of a job on my 3.0si…. The Ridex gasket is no way going to stay in the cover groove…
Wonder if a BMW one is better?
Need to find some sealant of adhesive to pre glue it in place…. Now need the servo motor gasket..
That’s after fighting with all the harness and clips…
Needing 1/4 drive Torx as 3/8 is too big… thank you BMW.
Certainly a learning curve.
