castle combe a few weeks ago. Anecdotally this gt3rs (tristan's) passed me on my first track day must be over 10 years ago now! Remember what a beast we thought it was/sounded (had a 968cs at the time). Nice to keep in touch, were my tyres not so knackered I've had half a chance with him in the past, but it made a decent video comparison.

Christ your car goes like a stabbed rat, and sounds amazing!
Nice one Tom, very cool. Watching this makes me desperate to get on track again!

Thanks. They're a048 so they stand up well, some sessions might have been 15 laps. Trouble is they're about 7 years old and haven't been stored well, outright grip is very poor.
I remember reading you were complaining about tearing up your tyres a bit? One of the most important things to save the fronts is to have at least - ve 2.5 degrees of camber, otherwise doesnt matter what tyres you have the outer edges will get a roasting.

Hi Tom, Nice driving mate!! thats fer sure.. but dont be fooled mate, if you stick a semi capable person in that gt3rs, there is no way in hell you could keep up.. unless the gt3rs is being driven by a rich kid or old fart who doesnt know how to drive.
There is a HUGE difference in HP /handeling between these 2 cars, even if you have cans/cams/cats/ other mods.. Not trying to take anything away from you in terms of driving mate, i know you can peddle mate, much better than me (cos i cant drive my way out of a wet paper bag), but the gt3RS is JUST such a better car.. its miles ahead of us.
either way, impressive driving man! Jolly good show ol chap
Ive always said, the Porsche is such a good package, it makes a good driver great, where as our platform is extremely rewarding, but very difficult to drive fast, you make it seem easy, so hat off man to you.

Yep good point, and one I've been considering. Trying to balance road use with track use but its almost an impossible task though camber plates might help with being able to adjust on the fly. Is -2.5 liveable on the road in your opinion and can you get it without camber plates (guessing shimming)?TomK wrote: ↑Fri Oct 16, 2020 2:37 pmThanks. Great vid! What happened at 1:20... was all over the shop with what seemed like little provocation. Handled it well though

Great driving and Z4M keeping the hands moving as per usual at speed! As Vanne says above, the Z4M is just a completely different animal to a mid engined Porsche. The 911 are not really rear engined anymore, the traction and stability they have is astounding. I took my 987.2 to Blyton for it's first track outing yesterday and even in the grease with Cup 2's the stability offered really took me by surprise.
When I drive the Z4 I know I'm in for a rollercoaster and skirting on the edge of grip but in the Porsche it's full send if you're silly it does snap but you get very good feedback. So to go at the speed you were, fair play to you.
Here's a 1.15 lap at Blyton outer yesterday, look at the relatively little if any steering correction on braking, turn in or exit I have to make.
