Has the work to the diff completely eliminated any noises ?

Having read some of your threads, is there still a problem with the oil consumption and light 💡 coming on dash ?

Hello

Oil consumption fine it was under filled at the recent oil change

Bulb light still on dash

Diff fine, still some either vibration or tyre noise no idea really but I have had the car checked over and nothing untoward found

Any inspection by AA RAC etc welcome

It’s a great car and personally see no reason it’s not worth 7k

Right now a 114k E86 would need to be pristine with zero spend on the horizon to draw £7k ( & i still think that would be very top money ) & by your own description / admission your car isn't that hence why potential buyers are avoiding .

window motor
wheel refurb
tyres
would soon add up to £750-£1k
I don't think your current ask is far from the point of finding a buyer , i suspect you just need that certain someone to actually view it

I’m slow responding as I’m heading for the boat from Spain

Regards the car it’s an honest description of a good car

However it has 4 good matching tyres perfectly acceptable for most of the drivers I see wobbling around with latest greatest rubber that they don’t seem to know what to do with.

The wheels are fine for most people however I’m sure it would benefit from a wheel refurb as they are not showroom...there is a reason the car is £5690 and compared to what I see I think it’s a great price.

Buyers will dictate

When I look at it I see a 7k car which is probably more my point and I’m quite light hearted on it to be fair just surprised it hasn’t gone ...I don’t need to sell it I’m Choosing to sell thankfully

Cleaned it up tonight but rain stopped play then lost the light I’ll try for more pictures tomorrow but forecast looking naff up here

Put it back in a garage yesterday, needs drivers side window regulator or repair kit, specifically asked for a check on the noise at the rear, nothing found and to be fair the noise pretty minute ...only thing said was could be a diff issue to which I mentioned it had been out and checked ...so was advised to just monitor it to see if it gets any more obvious but it hasn’t changed from the day I got it ....and it is not loud does not affect driving, car performance and drive is exactly how it should be ......the car is absolutely great and ready to be driven anywhere...no idea what else I can say but enough people are contacting me but not one has viewed I would think first to view will buy it.

On the diff noise have you tried swapping the wheels/tyres over? Could be a tyre flat spot or fault but an easy check. Next most probable cause would be something out of balance on the propshaft. What about any missing bungs or sound insulation? I'd always start with the easiest fixes but short of totally stripping an axle and measuring tolerances you are unlikely to find something wrong with a visual inspection. May have gone through this already but with rumbles and noises its what you are prepared to live with, and as you said it has not got any worse.
GLWTS

Cheers fella it’s frustrating as I absolutely like the car and planned on long term ownership...obviously the current situation has made things a bit more problematic so when it comes to fixing windows and what not I think I am obliged to keep things real, I’m a self employed driver so van comes first...I have often thought tyre noise but it’s got 4 good tyres not top brand but good so have been reluctant to spend £400 plus on tyres that might not cure anything and I’m not a kid I’m a steady driver never in a rush just like my toys hence 3 motorbikes but only small cc ...I had a stroke I’m very steady I literally cannot go fast at anything

Hi, I’m interested in buying your coupe. I realise it’s late or early which ever way you look at it so I’ll make contact with you later on this morning once I’m back from my MOT.

Yes and possibly getting a new mot and helping my return as it is a lovely car at the bottom end of the price range for one of these yet the car is far from bottom end condition....I’m considering things as interest was strong and it’s unfair on everyone so I’m looking at fixing the window and test it to get more return...the car is available but not advertised at this moment anywhere

I don't want to appear negative or try telling you how to suck eggs op but i'm struggling to level out the logic here :?
I think its fair to say £6500 ( or close to it ) would be about the money for a well presented , minter 115k Si coupe right now .
You were down to £5k , getting 1 or 2 of the jobs done sounds a good idea but in reality all it will do is cost you money that you may or may not get back if you still intend selling .
Either throw the chequebook open & get the car to a position any potential buyer would struggle to find fault ( wheel refurb , 4 fresh half decent brand tyres , window regulator , MOT , service , dash light fault rectified , detailed & valeted or leave alone & simply take the £5k .
If you intend to keep the car then fine but if you still intend selling there is every chance all you are doing is a exercise in spinning plates

So a 114,000 miles coupe is available in mint condition? So a car with a full new mot is worth the same as a car with a short test? A car with working window is worth the same as a car with a non working window?

It has 4 matching tyres less than a year old so think this needs putting to bed if they don’t suit just sell them and put the money towards Goodyear’s or whatever suits

A lot going on in private looks like the car will be sold soon and I won’t do the spend which I’m ok with

As I mentioned I hand on heart apologise if any confusion is caused, I have reiterated this in private ...two offers of £5250 which I am obviously fine with....next step is someone backing it up with money which will be the true test.

As you say spinning plates is something I do not really think I’d be a natural at.

No , no & no  obviously a 114k car will carry its wear & tear but to get a buyer to overlook the miles it really needs to be in as best a condition as possible & that means leaving no potential weak points or flaws to be picked up on
A car with fresh MOT & new window motor will obviously be more desirable but you won't be adding any value to the car by doing those so whatever spend you have had there you will simply get back ( or as close to it depending on what the work costs you )
I'm not trying to burst your bubble , simply pointing out that getting top money for any car you need all boxes ticked

I understand...and I’m sure this chapter is about to close, been honest a disappointing chapter for me as I actually preferred the SE I used to have yes high mileage but nice and comfy for our roads

The coupe is my favourite car I think it is stunning and fun but I work all over the uk and Europe in my van the car has to sit on the road and costs over £60 a month doing nothing it makes no sense, the window going plus the diff thing costing 3 weeks in a garage did my head in and has killed it ...my love of motorcycles has sneaked back too I’m enjoying riding a bit of off road again and my Mrs has a lovely TTS so I can’t justify the coupe if money no object I would keep it for its beauty alone I will miss this car and not closed the door on another coming in when situations change I actually liked my grey one more though but that’s a personal opinion
