Well first off welcome to the forum.

There are so many issues that might cause an amber EML. You really need to get the fault codes read to have any idea where to start.

It would also help to know what model of Z4 you have, and which engine.
Coupes because stunning!

Welcome to the forum. In my experience if the car drives ok without any issues most like then it is the oxygen / lambda sensors. I have that issue on some cars in the past but these somewhat newer BMWs are way more complex so as others have said it's best to hook it up to a scanner and read the codes.

You need to get the car scanned to reveal more info about the light.

Hi there,
I had this problem for a while with amber little engine Dickyn, first at all i have got EOBD-facile App with ELM327 WIFI diagnostic tool, easy and cheap as apps costs £17.99 and tool around £10.00, then showed problems with lambda sensor, then something wrong with exhaust, but sometimes is just sensitive and appears without any issues!!! I found out that previous owner used car only once in the while, so needed a time to clear out.
Also Apps is easy to clear all your DTC's and trouble codes.
