Headlights

Quality seems questionable. There's more info about them from Aliexpress

This is what bothers me, I wouldn't trust it unless it was from a brand like Hella. From my experience this stuff on Aliexpress doesn't last very long and 900 odd quid is a lot of money for something that might not last a long time. They do look nice though!

checked, they are from Taiwan and cost around 500 euro for a pair plus shipping here in Hong Kong. wanted to get a pair but same concerns as you guy, 500euro is not cheap and dont want to be a lab mouse

Not quite the same thing, but a similar effect (albeit with lots of work). The whole thread is a very interesting read; the OP is a proper trooper with his effort!

I think his approach is a lot better. Modifying the OE lights means everything fits and works properly and the materials are high quality.

It is a better approach since you retain the original headlights but it is a heck of lot work and I wouldn't be comfortable taking these headlights apart and again the durability of the LED kit is questionable. I fitted a similar LED angel eyes kit to my old E46 (the headlights on that was a doddle to take apart in comparison to the Zed), they looked great but after 3 years or so some of the LEDs began to fail. So I would not be surprised if this kit lasted the same amount of time.

I have seen a company that does these conversions as pictured in the aliexpress ads, I think they were in California.
You might well find that the Chinese item is a modified OEM light!
After all they are probably made in China anyway

I have seen the company in the USA before too, I think they modify the original headlamps, probably they use the kits from China but I wonder how many years warranty they provide. If you look at the video in the aliexpress link you can see they are replacement lamps and not modified originals.

Im thinking of getting these.

I have AFS as well.
AFS can be coded off, but does anyone know if headlights with AFS have physically different connector than non-AFS version?

Update: Had a chat with one company selling these. I took a photo of my current headlight connector and sent it to them. They compared and said it's the same connector, but with some extra wire/pin. In other words connector should fit.

AFS of course needs to be coded off. I did some googling and found E90 equivalent: "Remove $524 from VO from the PDF below showing you how to VO code...Then use expertmode and code default to CAS and NFRM and your done"

Is it same for E89? Has anyone done that?
