I like so far the suggested values both for winter and summer tyres, my winters are goodyear ones

My tyre fitters told me to use the same when I changed to non runflats.

Personal preference has to have some say here, I know Mr Wilkes for one doesn’t like the pillar pressures. If the guy followed his words up with even a little conviction i would have some respect for his opinion but to state time & time over that "Bmw know best " yet clearly he doesn't think so otherwise his car would be on runflats as intended & as supplied from factory
still , should he ever make the move from E89 to G29 he will be able to enjoy not only the luxury of non runflats but also lower tyre pressures ( around 34-36psi i believe) but also upsized tyres from the 255 35 18 or 255 30 19 clearly Bmw do know best & have now realised their mistakes & rectified them .

Having been part of product design teams the reasons why products end up the way they are sometimes bear little correlation with the prevailing facts at the time...

I'm no expert on tyres, but if BMW did know best, then they wouldn't have located the roof motor where they did and they'd have also routed the roof drain holes into the adjacent wheel arches which would have allowed a more accessible and shorter run, plus the drain water wouldn't have run all along the sill from back to front encouraging corrosion.

Whatever side of the coin you are on this one thing that does stand out is Busterboo's whole standpoint seems to stem from a phone call to Bridgestone. What are the chances that Bridgestone have highly trained,knowledgeable and well paid tyre gurus sat by a phone day in day out just waiting to take a call from a member of the public?! Or is it much more likely they have a CST team of low paid workers with no real knowledge of tyres at all answering calls and quoted "standard" tyre pressures off a screen. This issue certainly isn't clear cut and you would be foolish to think so. A change of tyre brand, or even a change to a different model within a brand can affect the optimium pressure. For example, on exactly the same set of 18" wheels and tyres my E85 feels better at around M pressures and terrible at the standard RFT pressure. But on the E89 the standard RFT pressures feel best, anything lower feel wallowly, indeed even at these pressures I think the 18" feel a bit too soft/comfy. Its also interesting that the factory 19" pressures are so different than the 18" ones on the E89
