M badge replacement stickers

Good to meet you Rick, and spend a good ten minutes staring at ///M badges in the rain like a couple of proper wallies!

As you say, there really wasn’t much in it at all. Thanks to Pures3 for the recommendation.

Here's mine - from the US supplier:

Not the greatest of pics nor the cleanest of cars, but I think it's captured the colour pretty well.

I've done some friendly neighbourhood research using a spare sticker and it looks like the red and dark blue are bang-on. The light blue is miles off but, looking at some older M3 pics, I have a feeling BMW changed the light blue between the E9x and the F8x. It looks like Yas Marina Blue now.

So I received my decals from Taylor Made today - super friendly service and more than happy to post all the way to Australia. Oh my god it transforms the car and makes it look like new!

The colour is extremely vibrant. My original badges were so faded so I have no idea how it actually compares though. But I'm extremely happy with the result :)

That’s a huge difference. I ordered a set a few days ago too, although mine will be taking a slightly more circuitous path :)

Hey guys sorry to revive that thread. I am looking for replacement badges, I do not have the car yet ... but I know its badges are faded. The badges are 45-50 USD everywhere. Which is way overpriced. I was wondering (since I do not have the car close by). For the one who ordered stickers, I guess that you remove the old sticker over the plastic emblem and replace it? Or you completely remove the plastic emblem and replace it with a sticker? It may sound like a dumb question ...sorry ... but since the car is not in front of me, I am trying to figure this out.

I saw stickers for sale ... something like that http://www.donewhenimdead.com/garage/copy-of-z3-m-couperoadster-doorsill-badges

I ordered the stickers recommended in this thread and they look good and fit perfectly. The OEM stickers are easy to peel off the chrome badge then the new ones stick directly in their place.

I tried to buy some from Taylor Made Decals on Facebook today but he's had to stop making them due to copyright laws.

Ok quiz time, do you know where the ///M colours come from? :D
The blue is the Bavarian flag and red is for Texaco. I’m not sure about the purple though...
The purple had no significance , wasn't it the shade the other two made if blended :?

I got intouch with Taylor made decals back in August 2019 and got this as a reply

"Hi Tom

Thanks for your message, unfortunately I don’t sell these anymore due to copyright reasons.

Sorry I wish I could still supply them as they are a cost effective way to keep your badges looking good without the expense of buying brand new badges.

Apologies"

Tom, all,

Thanks for the effort.

I too need new decals and that's bad news. However, I found these on eBay and I am wondering if we could use only the "tricolour" section of these vinyl decals:

Any idea? It may be worthwhile contacting this seller to check the dimensions...

Im a graphic designer and made my own. I did a lot of research used my current Z4M badges as a template an designed them to OEM spec...

I got in touch with BMW UK and they sent me the most up to date BMW M brand guidelines that they send to dealerships to have collateral produced. I have updated the colours to the newer M brand guidelines as our cars badges were produced using a slightly different Pantone. The newer colours are slightly more vibrant its subtle but looks much better in person.

Just need to find a printer that can print a vinyl that is hard wearing, resists UV (to improve on the current badges which is the issue) and obviously need to speak to a printer to see what vinyl options there are from a finish point of view I think they are gloss as standard, and get some test prints to check the colour accuracy. I also need to see if they can die cut them so there is no work when installing.

Could have a batch made if there is enough demand. They arent cheap to make in singles like £6 per badge with online retailers but I could have a local wrapping company print them and have them done on a big sheet which would reduce the cost considerably.

Beedub might be able to help as im sure he now deals with a lot of printers with wrapping cars with his business Topwrapz 👍🏻

Probably not the best time to enquire tho as most will be closed.

Hello all,

a quick update: I came across a UK company that seemingly can do decals out of our specs. I believe the dimensions of the stripes section of the M badges are 30mm x 30mm (side badges) and 35mm x 35mm for the badge on the boot lid.

I just contacted them via email and will follow up over the phone tomorrow to see if there is a chance of getting a run printed for the Forum.

Maybe we could organise a "group buy"?

Attilio
