E85 rear window

Post by asd911 » Sat Jan 25, 2020 8:55 pm

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a 2003 Z4 and the alarm turns on after 30 seconds without any reason.
I have checked with Inpa the contacts and it shows that the rear window is open. :? See on the attached picture.
Does anyone know where is the micro switch of the rear window, please? Or what the problem could be?

Thank you in advance!

If the bonnet COULD be the issue, disconnect the bonnet trigger switch and see if the problem goes away. The switch is located right at the back of the engine bay, at the top, down the centreline of the car.

E85 rear window

Hi,

Thank you for the welcoming.
If I disconnect the bonnet sensor, the alarm still turn on after 30 secs and the inpa also shows: contact hood open.
I have tried to push and hold by hand the bonnet sensor but the alarm still turns on.
Due to the fact that the inpa only shows the rear window, I guess that sensor could be the issue. But I don’t know where is it located.
Anyway the rear window heating is working perfectly.
I’m waiting for the ideas.
Thank you in advance!

I'm confused now, as you appear to have contradicted yourself here. At first you said that disconnecting the bonnet switch flagged up a new error message, but then you said that you only get one error message.

If you really DID get a new error message when you disconnected the bonnet switch, then I would say that the bonnet switch is not the issue and you need to look elsewhere.

E85 rear window

Post by asd911 » Sat Apr 11, 2020 5:18 pm

Hi everyone,
Just a little update:
I have removed the roof and I have relocated the roof motor pump. I have checked the rear window heating wires. It shows that it’s working perfectly, I have checked the wire from the rear window to the GM5 module and I didn’t find any issue, due to the wire being in perfect condition. I have read somewhere that the GM5 module x332 connector 10th pin is for the rear window. This pin is empty in my car. I have changed the GM5 module, and the motion sensor (burglar alarm), but the INPA still shows the rear window open circuit issue and the alarm still turns on after 30 seconds if I lock it with remote button.
But if I close with the key, the alarm won’t activate and won’t turn on.
The bonnet sensor is working.
Where can I find this rear window open circuit? Or maybe there is any issue with the tilt sensor?
The car battery is brand new btw.
Thank you!
