TTS > Z4 M40i - Thoughts?
I've had my Audi TTS from new for about two and a half years now. I'm very happy with it, love the quattro stability. I'm going to be moving to a Z4 M40i towards the end of March and I wondered what people found are the main differences both good and bad comparing the two cars?

By trading in your Audi you will then be allowed to use the left hand lanes on motorways

Your street cred will double instantly . Best of all you will no longer have to tailgate other motorists.

You’ll miss the traction, but as I’m discovering you’ll get more enjoyment from a six cylinder engine and rear wheel drive

A move I’m considering. You’ll miss not having indicators though

The new G29 looks pretty good in all colors except white. Just doesn't work in white...

Did the same a month ago.
You will miss the stability at this time of year.
It is a different drive , obviously being RWD and the auto box takes a bit to get used to (my TTS was manual).
Definitely feels and looks more unique.
The B58 is a super engine, so smooth and just keeps giving... although I have not hit the Rev limit yet.

Modern cars nowadays have lots of gizmos to save your bacon - unless you really go bonkers
From the TTRS vs M40i review I’ve seen, the TTRS was a bit faster but not by very much.
IMO the TT can’t carry the roadster look anywhere near as competently as the Z, though am sure you’d be happy with either.
The only real issue I had with my MK2 TT was it was downright dangerous in very heavy rain on it 19” rims with I think 265 tyres... acquaplaned very easily regardless of Toyos/michelins/Goodyear’s - never had any similar issue with the Z

Some funny responses here! This will be my third BMW, I've had two Audi's before. I think you'll find that the lack of indicators and tail gating applies to both brands!
How do you find the cabin differences? To me, the interior of the Z feels a lot more premium.
This is my fear. I had an M235i previously and got a little tired of the lack of traction. I guess I need to get used to it and learn how to drive the car to get the most out of it.

Yes, I'm on one of the TT forums, but not particularly active.

I took my ///MR out for a winter drive today. On cold MPSS I was ice skating and that is with a meagre 289ftlbs of torque. I absolutely love it when it is like that though. It's not about how fast it's about how much fun.handymanuk wrote: ↑Sat Jan 18, 2020 12:54 pm Some funny responses here! This will be my third BMW, I've had two Audi's before. If you don't enjoy/feel confident with the back end moving around then stick with the safe Audi.

I actually think that the interior quality is still better in the TT - some of the BMW switch gear is average.
Seats are lovely though

Interesting. Which buttons are you referring to? I find that the clicking sound of the steering wheel buttons on the TTS are particularly cheap. I much prefer the softer touch on the BMW. In my M235i I did find that there were some silly bits that felt cheap, like the carpet in the boot. I don't know why, it just seemed very naff compared to the Audi. I think it's the same with the Z4 from what I have seen.
