LeatherZ Gauge Kit For My Z4M Roadster

Post by WLH » Tue May 19, 2009 2:49 am

For a long time I have admired the LeatherZ Gauge Kit. Since I plan to keep my Z4M Roadster for a long time I decided to go ahead and take the plunge. I discussed this mod with my BMW dealer and they agreed to do the install without prejudice to my warranty. Rudy who is the shop foreman actually likes doing these customizations. He did mention to me that the LeatherZ instruction were very well done. And yes the install was not cheap but I knew Rudy would do first rate work and he did. I discussed my purchase with Andy of LeatherZ in advance and decided since this was going to be a permanent install I would send my ashtray for modification which did save me some money. So I now have an oil pressure, water temp and voltage gauges. Overall I am very please with the both the service from LeatherZ and my local BMW Dealer.

Nice cleans install with excellent match to ashtray surround

Also did the relocation kit for 12 volt accessories. I use a 15 amp pigtail to accommodate up to 3 devices.

The lighting is a perfect match...

The cost of the kit from LeatherZ around $600.00 for the S54 engine which you have. Call Andy at LeatherZ and talked to him about sending in your own ashtray and the panel above the ashtray for relocation of the 12 volt socket. I had the install done by my BMW dealer. If you do it yourself the cost is nothing except about 6 hours of your time. If you have someone else do it whatever their labor rate is times about 6 to maybe 8 hours depending upon their skill level. I can't say too much about the quality of the kit. Perfect match with VDO gauges and perfect match on the lighting. Really nice....

Everyone at my BMW dealer was impressed with it as well. I think the actual install time was actually under 6 hours.

Non issue on the temp sender since you made the necessary adjustment immediately....

hummm...I don't like it at all. I can't see the reason for having any of those gauges! sorry.

Like it, especially lit up  A man can never have too many readouts, but not sure I would stump up the cash for the mod though...
