These aren't Z4 specific recommendations, but are all BMW specialists - hopefully it might help.

Darren Woods in Stockport.

One of the most popular independent BMW shops in the UK. Quality of work and knowledge was top notch. Price was also good.

Project Three worked on mine recently, great work/turn around and wasnt expensive either.

Depends where your based but getting to Darren Wood and back again was a bit of a pain for me (plus they were too busy to fit me in and couldnt see the car for 8 weeks) and project Three are in Trafford Park just down from Old Trafford. Car went in and was back with me in 2 days.

Thanks for all the replies. Personally, I’ve had an awful experience with Project Three. Went for a full service there.
1. Two days after getting the car back the oil light came on. I’ve rung them up and they told me to come over to top it up. When I got there the person who worked on the car admitted that “I didn’t know exactly how much oil to put because you don’t have a dipstick”

2. Few days later I noticed a big scratch on the air filter cover, So whilst changing the air filter they managed to fk up the cover.

3. The leather on the drivers seat and door was all stained from oil etc.

So, if they manage to screw up a simple job as full service I’m not going back there for something more serious.

Oh, and their prices are “dealer” prices. The cost for the above was £350.

Project 3 have a bit of a "rep" ....

Im an indy myself, but not a BMW specialist although we look after many BMW's inc M cars.

Darren Woods is good but busy,Rockvale BMW is also good as is Graham Martin in St Helens.

I am in Bury with a 2009 E89 2.3. I run an X335D as well and I use Bolton Motor Works in Farnworth just off the A666
