Leather interior.

Post by Bill Boi » Sat Sep 07, 2019 6:40 pm

Hi, after months of looking I've finally joined the z4 owners club with the purchase of an 07 plate 2.5 manual in silver. I had to look at a lot of rubbish before finding a car I wanted including a trip to sunny Peterborough (approx hour and a half drive from my home) to see a z4 being sold by a dealer only to find a car covered in cobwebs leaves in the passenger footwell, heater not working and suspension creaking on every bump in the road. I wouldn't have minded but he wanted nearly 4k for this car. :headbang:
My new acquisition is in lovely condition 77k on the clock and everything works as it should.
The only compromise I had to make (as I guess you have to make at least one when buying an older car) was it doesnt have a leather interior.) So my question is apart from the obvious of ebay is there somebody out there who has two spare leather seats they no longer require and would like to sell or is anybody current breaking a car with a leather interior?
I have seen a silver car with the red/burgundy seats and it did look really good so wouldn't dismiss those. Just believe any car that the roof comes off of the car really needs a nice cabin. This would complete my car and make a happy new z4 owner even more happy.
Fyi I live in Hertfordshire.
Thanks. Paul.

Standard sport seats go very cheap and can be picked up for around £100 if they're manual, non-heated. More for these options. Obviously condition varies wildly so buy carefully.

If you want m-sport seats you're looking £750+ these days. Prices have gone wild over the past 24 months

Wow that's a lot for m-sport. I'll refine my search for manual ones, good advice thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Other options are seats from an E46 3 Series, either a Sport model or an M3. People have also fitted RX-8 seats, but that involves altering the runners.

And we like to see photos of new members' cars!

Hi Mr Tidy, thanks for welcome. That's really interesting about other options for seats I'll have a look, are 3 series seats generally cheaper? Think I've uploaded a picture!

Your car looks great.

3 Series seats are much cheaper than Z4 M-Sport ones - here's a link to a thread about other seat options:- viewtopic.php?f=2&t=115884&p=1667706&hi ... s#p1667706

But based on another recent thread if you do fit E46 seats you need to swap your original pre-tensioners onto the new seats to avoid airbag warning lights!

Welcome to the forum Bill Boi. Great looking Zed. Sports seas may be pricey, but they are also very comfy. :)

Yup. Happily the ///MR comes with sports seats. It's the the extending lip under your knees that makes a huge difference for me, means I can drive my Zed for hours on end, in comfort. Not something I can do in very many cars due to having really long legs.

Lol I know what you mean. So they're the ones with the knee extensions, did you have to change the pre tensioner on those after fitting, and did you get yours on ebay?

Lovely looking Z4! Definitely go for the red leather seats if you can! Here is mine with Titanium Silver:

These are known as M Sport seats.

The standard seats are referred to as sports seats.

If you have electric seats currently you can swap the bases if you pick up some manual ones.

Bases are the same for sport and M Sport seats so no issues there.
