Ignition coils - which ones and where best to get them

Post by Adam D » Wed Sep 04, 2019 7:18 pm

Next on my list of preventative maintenance are some fresh spark plugs and some ignition coils. 59k covered on the original coils over nearly 12 years makes me think they could do with a refresh as it’s not unheard of for them to break. The engine has felt a little hesitant to pick up of late but no EML lights shown.

I can see from RealOem that there are Bosch, Eldor and Delphi options but translating that into what you can order off the web from places such as ECP is confusing at best.

Does anyone have any good recommendations - leaning towards the Delphi/Eldor ones which have a metal heat shield on the shaft but believe Bremi or Bosch would have been original fit.

Cheers in advance.

I have a new Bosch one i keep in the boot. Can’t see the point in replacing until they fail though.

They either work or not don’t they. :?

Strangely I thought mine became slower during the hotter months ... had a couple of goes on roadies which felt the same

I’m kinda thinking it’s just the weather & waiting till I next get her out

Yep, agree

FWIW, my car has done very close to 105k miles and all but one are the original coils. I also keep a spare in the boot. (The one that failed did so about 3 years ago).
