Engine "lumpy" when turning off?

Post by bearded_ed » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:11 pm

Pretty much title but when I turn off the engine, most of the time it sounds quite lumpy/clunky when I shut it off.

Obviously it's only for a very short time.

Is this normal?

Car is 3.0i 2004 90k miles.

Not had it more than a few weeks and am working out the kinks.

Could be worn or damaged fuel injectors. Have you got a code reader ? Plug one in and see if it shows any fuel related codes

Huh, I'll try that in the morning! Any reason you think that could work?

Or... Why does it work!

Sorry, but does it mean that it’s normal if the noise goes with the clutch depressed or indicates a problem?

Normal. I always turn mine off with the pedal down as it just sounds better.

Same question!

Depressed clutch = much better for me after trying it today.

Likewise. It became so automatic that I needlessly do it in my daily car as well now

I see, so.. Your saying the world isn't flat and if you hold the clutch when you turn off it's better.. Any ideas why that might make a differance ?
If you ever think I'm off my rocker.. Just put me back in it and walk away... It's the kindest thing

It’s due to wear in the dmf, it clatters as the engine winds down on shut down (TADTS)
