Thats a whole lot of money you're giving away! Lesson learned on the patience! Do you have any pics of it? I might be able to back out of the one i've bought
Well don't i feel silly. Thats £200 minimum though. Don't you want to sell it?

Project Salvage Auction Rebuild

Post by Quijibo Jones » Thu Jun 20, 2019 1:44 pm

Hi All,

As i need to replace the full slam panel, radiator etc i've been researching instructions for replacing the slam panel in isolation. However, all the parts i.e. radiators, front crash protection attach within it on onto the front of it. I've been looking at this https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/153120479359 as its a complete unit. i wont be buying it but the picture has made me think it might be easier to assemble the whole unit and then attach to the car.

Any thoughts on this or advice on how to replace?

Thanks

It fit the panel then the rads. Think you’ll have to change the air con rad as well, look bent to me.

Regarding your expensive bumper, offer them £20-30 for messing them around, and the same for the free one to equal the karma.

The bumpers in the post so I’ll take the hit on that one. Regarding the rads. The main one is bent but not badly and the aircon one has a tiny bend in it. There is is a leak but only from the hose and the slam panel is structural sound.

I thinking about leaving the slam panel and rads alone. Fixing the pipe and sorting the rest of the bits. Bumper, bash plate, wishbone. I’m getting a mechanic to take a look again and see what he thinks.

Could someone with an E85 z4 do me a massive favour and post some pics on the underneath of their car front to back. I need to know what’s missing!

Just because you purchased something doesn’t mean you can’t return it. Just a thought :)

If rads are holding then that’s okay for now I guess, as there are other bits which you need to sort. I’d still be checking online for new/used ones tho? Will need doing before you start using the car properly IMO... but for this WIP stage and troubleshooting for getting the car on the road I guess it’s fine. Really surprised tho... have you pressure tested it?

I’ve pressure tested the air con and that’s fine and the coolant leak is from a hose not connected properly but I need to confirm that.
That and The wise bone on the left and the connecting rod on the right are the only elements that I’m currently aware of that will stop it driving. But I’m aware this could be like an onion skin!

The bumper is off and I need to replace the right side suspension crash bar and the right front wheel arch. Getting some help from synthedup which is massively appreciated!

The wheel arch is nightmare to source and look at this for a new one https://rover.ebay.co.uk/rover/0/0/99?l ... F515454148 :o

Very true, especially if bought from a company.

Hi. Where did you buy one from for £80. I need one for each side
It was from BMW direct - get the part numbers and try Ocean BMW Plymouth or Harry Fairbairn Edinburgh - both have a rep for delivering OEM parts at the best prices. I’d look up the numbers for you but I’m on the train... I am sure realoem is already your good friend though

Worth saying it was 2/3 years ago I bought one now. You may need a mortgage...

Thank you, the insides are ok.

However i'm worried i've just found something terminal. My focus was on front where the damage was. However the damage goes front to back and right drivers side has sheered the control arm off the main wheel body. I dont know of this is a part that bolts on and off or if it's structural. I'm hoping someone that knows more about cars than me can tell me.
