Lock down on a GTS...!!
congrats man!! you deserve that, clearly a hard worker!!
Set some cash aside and PPF as much as you can afford while its new! Dont wait, you'll never need to spend money getting it detailed and paint corrected in its lifetime.

... I thought in Yin & Yang harmony you should have odd numbers, so you need to buy another to make it 5

You are going to love it! Took delivery of my 718 Cayman GTS in January and its superb. Just completed a 500 mile round trip to Cornwall and I don't think I stopped grinning the whole time. Good move going for the 18 way adaptable seats. Enjoy

What's the typical cost on PPF for a decent job?

expensive....
typical front end around 1400, complete car between 3-4k..... but complete protection against pretty much everything.... i dont use templates either which leave the unsightly lines, i actually wrap inside the panel... Wish i could have done this to my z4m when it was new but sadly just couldnt afford which i understand is most peoples case, but i think if you get the high traffic areas done - front bumper, bonnets, wings mirrors and rear fender sections your good to go.... Keep an eye on my business threa as ill be releasing the lambo huracan PPF vlog shortly, this car needs alot of work beforehand as well, stone chip repair, scuff repair, light correction work, then finally the laying down of the PPF... PPF is a ball ache to work with.

wowzers....that's chunky money. You can understand it on a Lambo, but not sure it's really worth it on a 'normal' car like a boxster or Z4m. The new paint spray liquid wrap looks interesting to me though...will you be training up on that in the future?

its all down to how long you plan to keep the car, if you plan to keep something for a while, defo do it.. The hassle and damage it saves is massive, but yeah its big money, however a front end setup for £1295 is workable.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 14, 2019 7:26 pm wowzers....that's chunky money. The liquid PPF looks very interesting but im put off by how much stripping the car needs, the fact you need to flat down the finish afterwards and the costs... I cant see me offering it, we are talking 10k plus for the entry level of work. maybe for the yiannimize and topaz customers this can work, but for me im working with a different clientele.

£1400 for just the front of the car FFS, just don’t drive so close to the car in front! This PPF malarkey seems to go up in price every time it’s mentioned!
Thread wobble aside, congratulations on the Gts john, I saw a basic, non S 718 today and through it looked great

Mine was £700 fitted (by Paintshield in Nottingham) when I got my Z4MC front end done (bumper, wings, half bonnet).
Still got as dirty as the rest of the car, but you had to be much more careful about how you washed it as it scratched easier than the paint, and the bugs/stone chips would leave little dings.
You also got a little line appearing where the half-bonnet piece ended as you could never properly get the muck out.
It never went cloudy or discolour over the 3 years I had it fitted, but I had to have some of it removed for an accident repair, so took the whole thing off to get a front end respray.
Not sure I’d bother with it again - but then again, I suppose most manufacturers don’t really believe their customers will be driving 25,000 miles a year in all weathers (even if they market their product as perfect for that type of use)

half bonnet at 700 fitted is relatively reasonable, depending on the films use.... doing an i8 friday lambo just done, good stuff wish i could have afforded it when my z4 was new... i Completely tuck the film, use the best film on the market, its completely invisible the template pieces are pants imo.mmm-five wrote: ↑Tue Apr 16, 2019 10:19 pm Mine was £700 fitted (by Paintshield in Nottingham) when I got my Z4MC front end done (bumper, wings, half bonnet).

Thanks chaps...
Stupid outlay but there it is...
I guess most will say the 981 GTS would be the one to go for for the 6 cyl and sound, but if you drive a 718 the sound isn’t bad, I liken the aghast to people not liking the Beatles, heresy, apparently, however personally I don’t care one jot for what you ‘should’ like, it’s my money and I like the noise the 718 makes, plus you get all the benefits of an updated chassis, fuel economy, a moot point I’ll admit... , but also I cannot find a used 718 with the spec I want so new it is. You can have a heated steering wheel, much better infotainment, a Burmester wireless, etc, and new, so you know it’s not been kicked around the place from cold etc.
