Hey Everyone! Newbie with a '06 Z4 Coupe
Hey everyone! I've been doing the odd post on here in the last few weeks in anticipation of picking up my first (new-to-me) Z4.
Picked it up last Saturday, and its been AMAZING. It's an '06 Coupe, fair few miles on the clock (hence I could afford it!) but it seems in very nice condition. Sapphire Black, 3.0 SI SE, Red Interior (not a fan, but I'm learning to live with it until some affordable Black M Sport seats appear on eBay...).
Here's some piccies... of it 'unmodified' (at least by me), followed by a few more showing the initial tiny mods I've done below (I have plans of a few other small mods and tweaks, which I'll share with the forum if I ever get around to them!)
Yesterday I swapped out the slightly haggard aerial for this stubby one (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Genuine-OE-P ... 749.l2649), which looks a bit more modern (and less worn) to me.
I also switched the grills for these Matte Black ones (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Matte-Black- ... 749.l2649) which look super mean (don't ask me why the eBay listing shows an E89 Z4 – they're definitely E85/86 fit).
My only plans for future mods are:
– Sound Enhancer mod (potentially next weekend if I get time!)
– Putting some decent bulbs in (Philips X-treme Vision or something)
– Possibly might add a tint to the rear and 3/4 windows (although my rear-view mirror seems CONSTANTLY dimmed so maybe not a good idea)
– Want to put some 19" CSL reps on. Waiting for these (https://cmwheels.com/product/19-stagger ... 0-e46-z4/) to come back into stock
– Might swap Seats and Door cards for black ones, if the right ones show up at the right price
– Might put one of those 'flip out screen' Pioneer radios in... if I can face the cost of it!
That's about it! I'm loving driving 'the Batmobile' and will be hanging around here a bit more often.
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum, love the coupe, no wind in the hair moments for you though
Still plenty of enjoyment to be had though
That “AMAZING “ feeling you describe? It just keeps getting better, love the e86 shape , just had to be convertible for me though . They definitely are head turners

Hey Everyone! Newbie with a '06 Z4 Coupe
Hi and welcome to the exclusive Coupe club.
I'd want any colour seats other than black in a black car, and while the red is pretty bright I really like it.
Still if your red seats are M-Sport ones you shouldn't have a problem finding someone willing to swap if you do decide to change them.
I prefer the whippy aerial, but that debate usually goes on for pages on here.
Sound Generator mod is popular, as are CSL reps.
But most importantly just enjoy listening to that lovely straight 6 when you get the revs up!

Each to their own I guess! Keeping the original grills handy should I want to return it to stock (or more likely should one of the black ones drop out, as the fit on one isn’t great...)

Cheers buddy, yep very open to swaps if anyone is remotely near Bournemouth! Like you say mine is standard Sports, electric but not heated. I’m definitely learning to live with the red for the moment though. Wouldn’t even mind the black textile seats as they look pretty cool to me.
OH! One thing I meant to ask anyone that might know – what’s the best oil to be using in the 3.0 SI engine? Seems like it’d be wise to have some handy, as seen a few reports of thirsty oiled cars on these forums!

Any Fully Synthetic 5w30. Millers is a popular choice with forum members.SuperCoupe wrote: ↑Mon Feb 18, 2019 7:32 amCheers buddy, yep very open to swaps if anyone is remotely near Bournemouth!
