Help, new here and after thoughts on a 100k e89

What a ball ache advert...turbo waffle at it's finest....

Anyhoo that car looks a peach, very very well specced and as others have said 100k is nothing for this engine, keep putting good oil in and no reason it couldn’t last well over 500,000 miles.

Get it away from that drivel....it deserves better...!! :driving:

Just had a chat with the guy and I'm going to view the car tomorrow 8)
All sounds well on the phone, the only thing for me is that the car although fully serviced, the book is not fully stamped.
Now I'm clueless here as just been driving run of the mill stuff this last few years but I'm led to believe that I should be able to check this electronically, main dealer maybe? Is this correct. the 95k service was by an indie, all others are by BMW either at Redhill or Worthing so everything should check out.

Just waiting on a call back from my local main dealer to see if I can check this out and maybe a price on a once over, fluid change etc should I purchase the car.

Any thoughts.

Also the car is priced at £8650.00
Now this seems fair to me should every single thing check out correctly, which I think it will. The car needs taxing, a full tank of juice and some proper car mats I think so do you think an offer at £8300 is fair.

I would possibly be tempted to ask them to do a service and throw in a tank of juice, then offer 8500

When I bought my 3 Series in February, the seller had a print-out of it's visits to BMW garages and the dates.

It only ever went to Vines or Barons. I called both service departments and they were able to tell me what work they had done. Which was handy, as it turns out it had a full service in December 2017 at Barons in Hindhead that wasn't in the book! So I took the book in to them and they stamped it for me.

So if you know where it went and when you ought to be able to put it all together.

Good luck with the viewing.

Is 40mpg realistic? I've got a23i, not an M admittedly, and I very 26, which I'm happy with. Certainly a lovely looking car. Good luck. And welcome to the forum.

I think you'd have to drive like Miss Daisy to get 40mpg - which kind of defeats the object of buying a Z4!

My E86 is used out of rush hours and 95% of the time on motorways and NSL dual-carriageways and the OBC is showing 33.6 mpg after 10K miles, which I think is pretty impressive. My 325i with the same engine as a 23i does about the same, but that has to endure the Tesco trips, etc.

30+ mpg from any straight 6 petrol is good enough for me!

You can check out BMW servicing costs here: https://www.bmw-service.co.uk/##service-options
enter the reg number and the mileage, oil change (£129) and brake fluid change (£70).

Sounds fair to me. Whenever I see a price like £8650 I assume the seller wants £8500. So start at 8 and go up very slowly and you never know your luck! Hope it goes well

I think it’s over priced myself. Bought a 23i in great nick two years ago, not much in terms of spec but at 60k miles. Paid 9945.

Assuming yours is also a 2011, I'd say you got a bargain, not that this one is over priced

Thanks again all I genuinely do appreciate the info its been a big help
I'm not just here to get info and then bugger off, sadly you'll probably be lumbered with me for a long time, lucky you's
I have had a nose at other sections of the forum, mainly the e89 stuff, but also meets etc and will explore more once I get the time, its just been a manic week, yet here I am off the back of my nights work in the lorry :D

I'm off to get some sleep now as i'm up again at 7 to walk the dog and then set off to view the car, its only a 270 mile round trip :driving:

Have fun. Hope it's a good car but do not hesitate to walk away if you don't like it or if you have doubts. You should feel "wow!" when you see it in the flesh, not "Hmm, ok....".

Thanks, I've just got home.

As soon as I saw it, it genuinely was a WOW moment. Loved it and from the pics and the ad it is 95% what I was hoping for. Couple of very, very minor points that I'll ask about later tonight when I'm sorted, but deposit paid and the car is mine.
Bloody hell, I'm a Z4 owner

Congratulations, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.😀

Cheers, and thanks again to all for tips and advice.
The only faults I could find are,
The leather is not spotless, don't get me wrong it has no tears or scuff marks but I know I can get it much cleaner than it is, although currently perfectly acceptable. The bigger annoyance is the exhaust tips. I'm going to need a very big tin of metal polish and a stupid amount of elbow grease, I think I'll pop to the cleaning section for some advice.
No electric seats.

Other than that the car ticks every single box that I wanted, everything worked exceptionally well and it drove like a dream, I can't wait to pick it up in a week or two 8) :driving:
It will take me a while to acclimatise to the Z4 as this is a whole new experience for me but that's all part of the fun, the idrive system really does look very good and I'm hoping once I hook my iPhone up to it, the music will sound really, really good.

I definitely need 2 car mats and would like the right ones or up for recommendations, and may be need to consider some form of seat covers. Again up for any advice.

Been following the thread. Glad it worked out for you. Looks like a lovely car. I bought mine last Summer and still love it. I’m sure you’ll enjoy improving yours too. One of the dangers of this forum is that it encourages you to spend money on your Z. It’s hard to resist the temptation.

Congratulations chilistrucker - and welcome to Z4 ownership.

But of course you do realise that this means we will need photos.

Leather cleaning shouldn't be too big a problem if there are no tears or scuffs. You can buy colour matched cleaning products online - Scuffmaster springs to mind but there are others.

As for the exhaust it may save you a load of work to just buy new tips. Some BMW parts aren't silly prices! Same goes for the mats - if you try Sopers BMW in Lincoln and mention the forum they give a discount. (You can get cheaper pattern mats on Amazon that fit OK but the quality is never quite the same IME).

Let the spending begin...……..

Thanks, I will have a look at Sopers Lincoln re the mats, exhaust tips etc.

I'll get some pics up once I've got it home which should be within 2 weeks once the DVLA, or Swansea State Circus as I call them, pay me what they owe me

Congrats Chillstrucker, looks a very good car, pics when home is the law..

Hope you enjoy the forum, lots of advice, handbags, and good stuff rolled into one silly place. :driving:
