As many magazines/motoring journalists said before, Boxster and Cayman are the best driver car here. Car Magazine gives 5/5 to 2 Porsches, 4/5 to Z4 and 370Z, and 3/5 to SLK 350. Cayman is even cheaper than sDrive35i.
Did anyone try Cayman before buying Z4 Coupe, or drive Boxster before buying Z4 Roadster? I was passenger in a 98 Boxster before, and I think Z4 Roadster very close to it.

Drove a 986 boxster s and as a drivers car its better than the original 3.0 Z4 roadster, feels very planted however the interior is dated. The Z4 looks more modern and is easier to find a specced up one however, the reason I didn't buy a boxster is they commanded a considerable price premium for the same age vehicle and the Z4 came along with the right spec and at a silly price. Bought the Z4 as a stop gap but its proven very entertaining, 2 years on I'm just thinking of upgrading, maybe to Z4M or 987 3.4 boxster S.

I thought about and test drove a Boxter S before buying my Z4 and, as Adam says above, for the budget i had i would have had to get a 2 year older car with less spec, plus the maintenance costs would have been higher. I preferred the drive, sound and image of the boxter but the zed was a better all round option for me.
