SLK55 AMG or Z4MR
I'm not expecting this to be without bias on a BMW forum but I'm wondering if anyone has ever owned an SLK55 AMG ?
I'm currently looking at Z4MRs around the £10K mark which is obviously a fairly small number of cars and quite like the SLK, I imagine them to be ballistic quick in a straight line but rubbish in the twisty bits.
Anyone have any thoughts or experience ?

Oh yes...........The first Boxster S ate second gear ( a common problem).....then lunched its big ends ( another common problem).then fried the engine ecu........the second Boxster S was reliable and the SLK was faultless too
When I replace the Corvette it will be another SLK, and hopefully an AMG 55 version

I like the rarity of the Z4MR & SLK55 so I probably wouldn't bother with the Boxster but there are a lot of nice examples around at very tempting prices.

I must admit I have an itch for an AMG 55 SLK. Do I need to go to confession?

I've always liked the SLK 350 and the AMG. Looks and performance and a retractable hard top. Never driven one or even sat in one so can't compare, however some who have say they aren't as comfortable inside the cabin as the Z4, and then of course there's the 'girlie' image
EDIT - just remembered I owned a SLK 200 for a day and returned it due to a faulty gearbox. It was an early model and felt old and clunky to drive, I'm guessing the later model 350's are a different beast entirely.

That's a dangerous route to take Marlon, some would say both have a "girlie" imageMarlon wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 7:58 pm I've always liked the SLK 350 and the AMG. I reckon you could get away with a black SLK with a big engine and keep your machismo

I test drove an SLK AMG and a Boxster S before buying the Zed. I was impressed with the SLK - nice cockpit, very powerful, good handling - I just couldn't shift the feeling that there should have been curling tongs in the glove box!
I have never regretted getting the Zed!

I must admit that I've owned two Zs an early 2003 and a 2007 Coupe, loved both and the "M" is the natural progression.RickRob wrote: ↑Sat Sep 08, 2018 9:04 pm I test drove an SLK AMG and a Boxster S before buying the Zed. Boxsters are nice but always say to me "can't afford a 911"............possibly unfair but that's what they say to me
Not sure about the SLK, the AMG55 is cool but most people will just see the "normal" model and not the AMG bit maybe ?
