For £8k-ish that's a hell of a lot of car, if it's been serviced well then would be a perfect 2nd car...!

TBH it looks lovely and in good condition for the miles.

But with the price of roadsters £11k will get you a 85k or less car, market seems slow probably more room to move at that price too. Depends how you look at it, looks good money if you decide to keep it as is and just run it, not worry enjoy it as intended.

Inevitably it needs some work due to miles and age and with the other issues like the roof motor and maybe some body work, refurb 224s and some new tyres (but sell the other wheels to pay for that), you could easily spend £2k.

85k vs 140k its 40% less mileage for 18% more money and you get to do that 55k whereas that car would be knocking on the door of 200k.

If you have a look at threads like this:
http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthre ... 14&page=34

It does fill you with confidence that with normal maintenance the S54 will easily hit 150 if not more. Whether the little whisper in your ear about the possible failure is worth the risk. 9k is still 9k for that money a well fettled 3.0SI may be a better choice.

If all I had was £8k-ish to spend I'd find it hard to buy a 3.0 when you could have this M....(*ignoring the obvious additional running costs). TBH, it's probably a good little buy to use as a Turo car...would pay for itself within a summer.

Fair enough, the waters muddy when you get to this sort of price. Just having one axle of disks and pads changed nearly cost 10% of the cars value, tax is 6% of its value etc. Makes you wonder what the future will hold for cars like this away from enthusiasts. Value vs cost to maintain vs cost if it something major happens.

Suppose its the risk value proposition at this price point, you could win or loose. Spend a bit of money fixing it up but then being in a territory of cars with almost half the mileage.

TBH if you have 9k to spend I dont think 11 or even 12k is much more of a stretch when you consider the cost of maintenance. It has already been reduced from £9750.

Again it looks like its had all of its major bits done it could be very cheap motoring for 24 months. Keeping the wheels and tyres which are new from the ad, checking the MOT there were no advisories and just one in 2017 with a disk being pitted, just had INSII if its been done properly with evidence of adjustment etc Assuming the disks and pads are new all round (from advisory), and not worry about having the bearings etc sorted it could be a good buy.

A car with 340 ponies for 9k... you’d probably make it all back just in parts if you blew the engine up
- M bonnet 1k
- M front / rear bumpers
- Gearbox
- LSD
- wheels 700-1k
- Seats
... I’d buy it if I could find another garage to hide another car from the Dragon Lady

Sounds a bit like me... worth far more dead than alive

True, Got to be willing to do it, probably more effort than its worth for 99% of people.

Different cars appeal to different people.

Interesting & always divides opinion  45k CatD roady at £10k ? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified ... BMW&page=1

Obviously a thorough going over required but that could be a nice motor & without the Cat status a £15k car ?

Cetainly looks well kept , well specced & well serviced , i think it will sell pretty swiftly

The guy offers it to me before I purchased my car but he said he had a buyer in France so I had to commit with a few hours - without even viewing.
He messaged me a few weeks ago asking I I was still interested as his French buyer had messed him around and pulled out.

I'd be very careful with any cat car, but only because I've got first hand experience of what body shops will do to cut corners & save £££

I'd still have one, but I'd have to be VERY comfortable with the before and after condition, full documentation of damage & repairs, etc.

Would also recommend a proper chassis alignment check, not a Kwik-Fit wheel alignment, as mine came back 'fully aligned' but with very skittish handling and twitchy steering.

You've got to assume that to write off a 2006 car in 2007 meant either heavy damage or some sort of new for old policy (e.g. replace rather than repair if less than 2 years old).

It's really hit me how far the market has moved since I left the world of Z4M ownership just over 3 years ago.

I bought my Z4MC in September 2013, private sale, 24,000 miles on the clock with spec as per my signature, for a little under £17,500.

For that price I'd now be looking at 80,000 plus examples, whilst a private sale of a fully loaded 24,000 mile example would be closer to the £30k mark, it would appear.

Not quite as stratospheric as the price increase of the E46 CSLs or E30 M3's from 2012 / 2013, but still a decent ROI for well kept ///M's :driving:

Just popped up on PH. Z4MC Ruby Black 42k miles for less than £22k. Looks suspiciously cheap?? Or are there a few overpriced private sales currently hanging around?
