De-tango rear lights
I’ve been thinking about getting rid of all the orange indicators on my car and have started to accumulate the necessary bits. Side repeaters on their way, OS facelift headlight bought. Still looking for NS facelift headlight.
I am now considering rear light options. I would like to go the ‘four clear spot’ route, as a prefer symmetry.
A quick mock up on my car:
As it is Proposed look I see a few have gone with leaving the fog light spot red and others with all red, or even darker smoked tint.
What have those with my preferred option (above) done about the fog light? Red bulb, silvered red bulb (are they available)?
What would you do about the third/centre brake light - leave it clear, or would going back to red give it more balance? Thoughts?

I've not done this on mine (face lift) but have replaced indicator and brake bulbs with LEDs. Using OSRAM premium with checks coded out, you'd have to buy a pair but that's what i would do for your fog with a clear lens. The checks may not even need coding out.ErrErrminator wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 6:28 pmWhat have those with my preferred option (above) done about the fog light? here's a pick of mine with quad rears and clear brake light. Sorry its not the best and a few years old.
I''ve had my rear lights about three years now. I ended up stumping up for a new set after watching a good few sets sell on ebay for anything up to £150 used! I paid something like £220 for mine new.
I got a silvered fog light bulb off ebay that lives in the car for Mot purposes. However that bulb is never really in there. Mine spends its life serving as a second reverse light with the super bright LED bulb in. It does makes a huge difference having two bright reverse lights instead of the one regular one.
I was inspired after seeing the rear of this one
and pics of bradders z4 on here
I liked the symmetry of the quad spots and you may have noticed mine and the other car aren't sporting the french fries. I think this improves the look immensely, especially on silver cars. I must admit I’d never even considered using LEDs. Will look into that. Thanks.Scooba_Steve wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 10:48 pmI've not done this on mine (face lift) but have replaced indicator and brake bulbs with LEDs. Until I can get a matching NS headlight I won’t be fitting the new ones, or selling the old. Even then I might want to keep hold of them in case I ever want to return it to standard.

Where did you source the clear rears? I’ve seen them for sale new in Germany and I trying to converse with the seller (not very well) using Google translate. Might be easier if I could locate some in this country.

you can use an OSRAM DIADEM Bulb for the fog rear light. Available on ebay for around 10-14€

Personally I prefer the standard lights. I find clear ones look cheaper.
Here is mine with just the reverse light tinted red.

Totally agree!
I did have all the bits for a facelift rear end but ending up selling them once the quad spots were on
