Well South eastern trains started cancelling services 'before' the snow kicked in. I mean, what?
you're cancelling them 'in case' it snows.

its just utter BS i tell ya!

But then what better excuses do they need? if the driver dropped his sandwich they would shut down the network.

I started school in ‘53 and until I went to senior school in ‘64 all boys wore short trousers - summer & winter, rain, hail or snow!
We weren’t given any hot drinks either - just 1/3 pint of half frozen bottle of milk.
You don't stop playing when you get old - You get old when you stop playing!
So I bought a 35is with all the toys to play with.

And its not like they had our 'modern' thermal clothing - how ever much effort it took to shovel the snow I bet it took half as much again just to move the fabric in the jacket/coat. They were 'ard then.

I was 11 when I moved to this part of the world so I still had to do a bit of walking to school , I remember climbing over 3 foot snowbanks on the sides of the road, minus 35F and trudging through a lot of snow, yes it was uphill but only half way, then it was downhill coming home :D It was only half a mile  I don't remember a single "Snow Day", it's not like that now, six of inches of snow and the radio starts listing school closures. Oh well, at least I don't have to go near a school anymore

6" of snow ? no where near that these days. :|
I went past a school on Thursday which had not opened due to snow and there was hardly any snow to be seen. It's a bloody joke how the H+S and media whip up mass hysteria about weather conditions. God help us if we get some real snow

Well, despite the ‘beast from the east’, I spent a lovely cold Saturday morning driving around North Wales...in a Z4...with summer tyres on :o

Did take my still-unused sno-socks with me though...just in case
