Post by john-e89 » Tue Feb 20, 2018 9:56 am

Bonjourno Zeddlingtons,

Does anybody know if E92 seats like these will fit an E85 wiring wise just with limited tinkering, or can only the earlier M3 seats fit? :scratchhead:

Cheers muchly.

Pretty sure the rears won’t fit, John.

M3 seats fitment question

I hope the fronts do OP - they look rather comfy!

But I'm not sure an E85 would be pre-wired for the electric side bolsters, although I have no experience of the E9* models - until I pick mine up tomorrow! :)

Someone on here is sure to know though!
Coupes because stunning!

nah sadly they wont fit as the canbus wiring is different to the fibre optic wiring in the e9* range - also the runners wont physically fit in an e85/e86 - different floorpan

I was hoping you might bite...!

Thanks very much J. Saved me a fair few quid. So what does fit? Is it E36?

no prob dude - yeah e46 ones are a straight swap , however I find the standard ///M seats are more comfortable and sit slightly lower (if that benefits you)

Ah ok great, E46 it is. I don’t rate the M seats as they don’t have tight enough side bolsters. Plus the foam is disintegrating on mine so time for a swap.

Cheers for your help, much appreciated.

M3 seats fitment question

Just spotted an old zpost thread (featuring a couple of familiar names!) about the Corbeau RRS. Haven't heard of them before.

Sounds like you are after a "drop in" replacement, but if not, these look worth considering as they can be ordered with heating and in leather for not a lot more than you'd be able to sell a set of ///M seats. They are also ~12kg each.

M3 seats fitment question

They’re a nice looking seat Mr PT, plenty of support I’d imagine. What I’m after ideally is adjustable side bolsters like the E89 has. Rare but a few E46 seats seem to have them, but I don’t know if you can get them to work. If not then as long as they’re heated I’m game for much anything with a tight bolster, which is my gripe with the M seats. I can’t believe BMW didn’t put side adjustment on the M seats, penny pinching to the extreme. 1991 onwards MR2’s have manually adjustable bolsters for example.

M3 seats fitment question

I ended up trying about 2 dozen seats at Demon Tweeks before settling on Pole Position ABE.

Not cheap compared to some - although cheap compared to Recaro Sportster CS (or BMW Performance seats) - but they were the only ones that supported me everywhere and weren't too loose or too tight.

A par of these will be fitted next weekend..

no problem any time!

The adjustable bolsters on the e46 m seats are great and plug and play in the z4 too...

Ahh if you part with your M seats then I might take em off you :)
